The release date for Bad Bunny’s Spider-Man spinoff film has been updated.

Despite the complete failure that was Morbius and the seeming perpetual overshadowing by more well-liked MCU films or animated Spider-Man films, Sony’s live-action Spider-Man franchise has managed to plod along throughout the years.

A number of Spider-Man-related films, including Venom 3 and Madame Web, are slated for release. Madame Web is now under production.

El Muerto, a spin-off featuring Bad Bunny as Juan-Carlos Sanchez, the alter ego of the title character, is one such project now in development. El Muerto, a wrestler-style Spider-Man, is not one of the most well-known Spider-Man comic book characters. Yet, he will appear on a large screen.

A recent rumour suggested that the movie’s January 12, 2024, release date may no longer be the case.

When Will the Movie “El Muerto” Be Released?

The Sony Spider-Man spinoff El Muerto is unlikely to arrive on January 12, 2024, according to a recent Tweet from Big Screen Leaks.

We haven’t heard anything about what’s happening, the fan tweeted, asking for an update on the movie. Insider Big Screen Leaks responded, “I’m hearing that it’s very unlikely to make that date,” in response to this.

With the lack of casting and filming news 10 months prior to the movie’s anticipated release, the delay is perhaps not unexpected. The release date for Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web was just moved to February 16, 2024, by Sony since the studio would never want two of its Marvel blockbusters to clash in theatres inside a single month.

The following film in Sony’s Marvel lineup, Kraven, will debut in theatres on October 6, 2023.

How Would Sony’s Spider-Verse Be Affected by a Delay?

El Muerto’s original release date was just over a month away from the release of Madame Web, thus a delay for El Muerto would probably not have a significant impact on Sony’s Spider-Man universe’s preparations.

A delay would probably only be a minor inconvenience given the proximity of the Dakota Johnson movie to its release date, the release of Kraven the year before, and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-unavoidable Verse‘s success when it opens in June.

A delay would also offer plenty of opportunity for reshoots and story tweaks, based on how well Kraven and perhaps even Madame Web were received by fans.

The films’ current proximity to one another simply increases the likelihood that if one were to fail, the other would as well.

On January 12, 2024, El Muerto is currently scheduled for release in theatres.
