Zendaya discussed the scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home where her character is saved by Peter 3 aka Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man: Homecoming in an interview for Spider-Man: The Official Movie Special (via Backtosnack TTV on Twitter).
“Andrew’s Peter Parker gets to help save someone else’s love, which is huge for him because it’s something he must deal with every single day. When you lose someone that you love and you feel like it was your fault, it is a huge burden to bear.”
The actress continued, referring to the scenario as“a really sweet moment:”
”It’s a really sweet moment because MJ doesn’t know what happened. She just knows that he just saved her, so she’s like, “Thank you!” He’s crying, and she’s like, “Are you OK?” Even though she’s the one that just fell from the building.”
The rescue is especially significant for Peter 3 since, as was already explained, he felt terrible guilt for not saving Gwen Stacy all those years before.
In addition, Zendaya discussed the “strong relationship” that the Spider-Man actors have with their respective roles, pointing out that Andrew Garfield, Tom Holland, and Tobey Maguire all hold a special place in their hearts for the wall-crawler:
“They were so lovely and so thoughtful about their respective Spider-Men because they care about their characters too. They care about their Peters and their different stories. Each of them has a connection to Peter Parker and has this strong relationship.”
A Spider-Man Moment to Remember
In No Way Home, Andrew Garfield’s portrayal of Peter Parker admitted that once Gwen was dead, he lost control and ceased holding back. He gradually managed to control his anger, but the regret of losing Gwen persisted.
In the Spidey threequel, Peter saving MJ was described by actor Andrew Garfield as “cosmically beautiful” while Zendaya’s portrayal in the intensely moving scene received separate accolades from Garfield.
Viewers are undoubtedly curious about Peter 3’s future since he was returned to his home realm after the film. Without a doubt, his work in No Way Home was outstanding. Could Garfield get a second chance to don the outfit and take a swing since Avengers: Secret Wars is reportedly drawing from every corner of the live-action Marvel Multiverse?
