The second installment of the Multiverse Saga, which continues the franchise’s extensive adventures following the Infinity Saga, is about to begin with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. And while this new movie will feature a few key new characters for Marvel Studios as well as some wild plots, many are unsure of its true significance to the MCU saga as a whole.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which came out right before Ant-Man 3, was hailed as Marvel Studios’ most significant film ever since it honoured the late Chadwick Boseman and assisted fans and the Marvel family in grieving and moving on.

Marvel Studios is making sure that its next projects remain closely connected to its main narrative as the Multiverse Saga moves closer to its eventual climax event in Phase 6.

The Most Important Post-Endgame Film in the MCU

Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, acknowledged that the next Ant-Man film is the most significant to the interwoven MCU narrative since Avengers: Endgame in an interview with Rotten Tomatoes at the global premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

Ant-Man 3connects most to the bigger picture” according to Feige, for the series.

“Of all of our films we’ve done since Endgame, this is the one [Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania] that connects most to the bigger picture, and that’s what I’m excited about. Phase 4, we introduced a lot of fun great characters on Disney+ and in theaters, all of whom will be very important going forward. But now, finally kicking off Phase 5, people are going to start to see the bigger picture as we get towards the next Avengers film. So I’m very excited for that part.”

He recalled how Phase 4 delivered a great deal of fresh characters and narratives to Disney+ and the big screen. But as the plot advances towards the upcoming Avengers films, this new threequel will be the first film in the Multiverse Saga to portray the wider picture.

Sets Stage for Multiverse Saga with Ant-Man 3

It makes sense that Kevin Feige labelled Ant-Man 3 the most significant film since Avengers: Endgame given what it has in store. After all, it teases several potential Multiverse-related narrative aspects while also introducing Kang the Conqueror as the final big enemy of the Multiverse Saga.

After everything that transpired in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and even Loki Season 1, Ant-Man 3 now has the opportunity to expand the Multiverse for new stories.

In the impending threequel, Kang’s capacity to communicate with all of his Multiversal Variants and divide and conquer throughout time and space will start to reveal to fans just how dangerous he can be. And with those tools at its disposal, Ant-Man 3 has a much better potential than any of its Phase 4 predecessors to set itself apart from the Infinity Saga.

The first theatre showing of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will take place on February 17.
