The Marvel Cinematic Universe welcomes Ed Harris

According to reports, Ed Harris will appear in the new Wonder Man Disney+ series and join the MCU.

Ed Harris

Harris has starred in four seasons of HBO’s Westworld and has been in a plethora of important films throughout the years, including The Truman Show, Apollo 13, Top Gun: Maverick, and more.

The actor has received much praise and was unsuccessful in all four of his acting Oscar nominations for the films Apollo 13, The Truman Show, Pollock, and The Hours.

Is Ed Harris a Villain in His MCU Disney+ Role?

Insider Jeff Sneider of The Hot Mic podcast revealed that Top Gun: Maverick star Ed Harris has been hired for Disney+’s Wonder Man. According to rumours, Harris would portray Simon Williams’ Hollywood agent, Neal Saroyan.

Knowing that Wonder Man is an actor-turned-superhero, it should come as no surprise that his Disney+ series would be a “Hollywood satire” that even has a Hollywood setting. Marvel Comics sometimes utilised Williams’ agent Saroyan as a prop for comedy and comments on Hollywood.

Sneider revealed the news by saying Harris will play a “agent and possible villain,” implying that his character might turn evil. In order to get attention in the comics, Saroyan, a rather wicked character who is motivated by fame, has even sent hazardous enemies after Wonder Man.

The Better Call Saul actor Bob Odenkirk was reportedly being considered by Marvel Studios for a pivotal role in Wonder Man, which most people believed to be Saroyan.

The Quickly Coming MCU Debut of Wonder Man

The most recent Wonder Man production update stated in February that filming was scheduled to start in late March, or right now. And the programme is undoubtedly indicating that it will begin production; just recently, a member of Fear the Walking Dead was cast as the Grim Reaper, giving the programme its nemesis.

Yahya Abdul-Marteen II, who will play the title character, is already attached to the project. Trevor Slattery, played by Sir Ben Kingsley, is a well-known MCU character. According to rumours, Lauren Glazier from Mindhunter and seasoned actor Werner Herzog will be joining them.

This ensemble is undoubtedly strong, especially considering that Destin Daniel Cretton, who directed Shang-Chi and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, is involved. Filming might start at any time, if the original late March production schedule remains valid. However, it’s far less certain when it will really be available on Disney+.

The production of Daredevil: Born Again, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and Wonder Man are all scheduled for release in 2024. Echo and Ironheart have already finished filming. Many of these presumably won’t be released until 2025 because the MCU is rumoured to be reducing its annual Disney+ output.

Since Wonder Man has still yet to actually see a formal announcement, it may be one of the slightly further out releases. Perhaps it may only be filming so soon due to the directorial involvement of Cretton who will soon need to turn his primary attention to 2025’s The Kang Dynasty.

Wonder Man has yet to set an official release date.
