There may be a Tony Stark connection from the Loki Disney+ series because to a specific Kang variant’s brief cameo in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
The diversity of Kangs inside the MCU cosmos will be emphasised as Avengers: Kang Dynasty approaches, if that hasn’t already become clear.
Forget about Jonathan Majors’ debut as He Who Remains or even Ant-Man 3‘s major villain Kang the Conqueror. Remember Rama-Tut, Immortus, and (maybe) Scarlet Centurion, the three Kangs who were prominently displayed in the most recent mid-credits scene from Marvel?
The point is that Kang isn’t just one person (despite the fact that Majors seems to be portraying all of the Variants), and his malevolent variety is what makes him such a distinctive foe.
One Kang struck out as a clear connection to Loki season 1 in a sea of (seemingly) limitless variants.
Entry of Mr Gryphon into the MCU
In the opening post-credits sequence of Ant-Man 3, Mr. Gryphon briefly appears as hundreds of Kang Variants are teleported into the Council of Kangs arena.
The demolished Avengers Tower from Loki Episode 5, Journey into Mystery, which prominently featured the name “Qeng,” has a clear connection to this.
This was the start of an Easter egg that would soon get more developed at the moment. In the comics, Mr. Gryphon, a businessman-like Kang Variant imprisoned in the twenty-first century, attempts to establish a “New Qeng Dynasty” by purchasing Avengers Tower from Tony Stark.
This outward manifestation of Gryphon appears to be confirmation that this Kang acquired Avengers Tower from a timeline-plucked Tony Stark. This is why the building appeared to be in disrepair inside the Void.
Mr. Gryphon might make further appearances within the MCU given that the Sacred Timeline is no longer being protected and that timelines are branching out and further intrusions are inevitable.
Who Purchased the Avengers Tower on Earth 616?
Even if Mr. Gryphon and the Qeng Tower have entirely multiversal looks right now, what if this character is having a more immediate effect?
Tony Stark sold Avengers Tower in Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017, but the new owner’s identity has never been fully disclosed. “Tony [Stark] sold that a few years ago,” Clint Barton informed Kate Bishop during the Hawkeye series in 2021.
Who purchased Marvel’s most recognisable structure is still a mystery in-universe, despite the many possibilities that have been put out.
While promoting Spider-Man: No Way Home, Tom Holland and Zendaya appeared to have an idea, but they kept it to themselves.
What does it matter if Mr. Gryphon (or a variant of him) has spent the entire time on Earth-616? This might be a clever technique for Kang to sabotage this timeline and create one from scratch.
This is currently one of the most mysterious things about Marvel that hasn’t been revealed. While the proprietors of the Kang Dynasty, like as Reed Richards, SWORD, or Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Val, would be interesting, Phases 5 and 6 concentrating a lot of their emphasis on Kang might make for an exciting Avengers battle.
Watch out this quick cameo in the presently showing movie Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
