Fans of Marvel’s super-powered franchise are anticipating to see a variety of new characters, including Huerta, in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty.

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever marked the Mexican actor’s Marvel debut, and it left a big impression on viewers. Regrettably, while being able to return” to the MCU, Namor appears to be unable to do so in a stand-alone film due to a complex rights scenario.

He hasn’t been confirmed to feature in the next MCU film, but Avengers 5 writer Jeff Loveness recently stated that he is “eager to write Namor,” thus implying that the underwater Avenger might be a member of the Kang Dynasty.

Tenoch Huerta, the actor who portrayed Namor in Black Panther 2, discussed the possibility of joining the Avengers in the MCU in a recent interview.

Huerta told The Wrap that he “hope[s]” to see his Marvel character again soon and expressed his desire to “would love to appear in the next movie:”

“Honestly, I don’t know. I hope so. I hope so. So, please tell the people to send tweets and letters to Marvel because I would love to appear in the next movie, but I don’t really know.”

The actor joked that working with Marvel is like “everybody around knows everything about your character except you” adding that he “would love it” if Namor joined the MCU’s Avengers team.

“I would love it. I will like [it], but I don’t know. Because, you know, the thing [is], I was talking with with Gael Garcia Bernal… and he said, ‘Something that is funny with Marvel, everybody around knows everything about your character except you,’ and that happened to me! I can hear many rumors from people around me, but I don’t know. Honestly, they haven’t called me to say anything.”

He added that he “admire[s] almost everybody in the Marvel universe” and that he would “be [honoured]” to “share the set with all of them” when asked if there were any specific MCU heroes he would like to share the screen with:

“Well, actually, I admire almost everybody in the Marvel universe. And for me, it would be an honor to share the set with all of them. So… I don’t have a favorite, because all of them are great. So, whoever is looking for me.”

In response to what Namor might have been doing while other Marvel Studios movie events (particularly when Thanos snapped his fingers) occurred, Huerta replied, “that is a question… I don’t have the answer [to]:”

“That is a question… I don’t have the answer for that question. But, on social media, you can some photos of me training and sleeping on the couch. Maybe Namor was sleeping on the couch. (laughs) Or he was training… Nah, honestly, no, that’s a joke. Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t know but that question was in my mind when I received the script for the first time. I was like, ‘Okay, but what happened before?’ I’m pretty sure the big bosses have the answers.”

Is The Kang Dynasty a Shoe-In for Namor?

Although very little specific information about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty has been released, it appears that Tenoch Huerta’s Namor will participate in the Multiversal fun.

According to Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, there are “80 years of stories with Namor that [Marvel Studios] can tap into,” thus it appears that the studio has ideas for the character moving ahead.

The character’s significance will undoubtedly increase throughout the course of the franchise because he was one of the first mutants introduced in the MCU.

Huerta doesn’t seem to have any objections about returning either. He has stated that “[he] want[s] a bigger contract” and believes that this is only the beginning of his superhuman career.

You can make a lot of things with Namor, the Marvel actor said earlier. And Marvel probably recognises that plot potential, so they are preparing to incorporate him wherever they see fit, notably in the upcoming Avengers team-up.

On May 2, 2025, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty will be released in theatres.
