When discussing the future of the series with Phase 5 and beyond, an MCU producer used a well-known Spider-Man quote.
With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Phase 5 of the Multiverse Saga has begun in earnest and will feature over a dozen new projects. A number of Phase 4 characters will make appearances in this new Phase, along with a few notable newcomers. This will all build to fresh team-up initiatives before the release of two new Avengers films in 2025 and 2026.
Fans generally know when the most of the MCU’s characters will return for more action, but Tom Holland’s Spider-return Man’s date is still unknown.
Many hoped the hero would play a significant role in either Phase 5 or Phase 6 as they developed after his previous appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home where he prevented the Multiverse from exploding.
A Spider-Man reference from an MCU producer
When discussing Phases 4 and 5 of the MCU, Marvel Studios producer Stephen Broussard offered Spider-Man fans a wink.
In response to a question regarding how the MCU will use these two Phases to tell the tale, he emphasised how much the last Phase was focused on preparing new characters to take on new roles and mantles going forward:
“Well, I think one of the meta-narratives of Phase Four was about new characters. It was about new people stepping into mantles…”
Broussard observed that thread, addressing the obligations of both generations of heroes, in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. Now that Phase 4 is over, he referenced a famous Spider-Man proverb while speculating about what these new heroes will do with their enhanced abilities in Phase 5. He said that “with great power…[comes tremendous responsibility:]”
Broussard: “So it was kind of like a new generation stepping to the forefront which, again, has always happened in the comics. Some of those themes are on full display in the thematics of [‘Quantumania’], like what is the responsibility of the last generation? So I think Phase Four was about introducing all these amazing characters and getting the chance to tell these stories. Now that those players are on the board and there’s a big bad coming, it’s about like, ‘What are they going to do with that? What are they going to do with this power?’ Because as you know, perhaps you’ve heard. with great power…”
io9: “[Laughs] Yes. “Comes great responsibility.”
When Will Spider-Man Make a Comeback in the MCU?
Every Spider-Man fan knows the saying, “With great power comes greatresponsibility,” which was popularised by Sam Raimi‘s trilogy from the early 2000s. When Aunt May was killed by the Green Goblin in No Way Home, Tom Holland was able to join Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in embracing this idea as he came to understand his true role as a hero.
With this particular concept, Phase 4 introduced a number of new characters, and Phase 5 will seem to focus on getting both new characters and seasoned characters ready for the fight to come. Because of his powerful involvement in the next Avengers films, Kang the Conqueror will actually be a significant threat to all of humanity across all of the universes.
Fans are closely watching Spider-Man, especially after he recently starred in No Way Home, which has become the seventh-highest-grossing film of all time.
Spider-Man 4 is now in active development as its writers are working to construct its plot, according to recent information from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige.
It’s unclear if it occurs before or after the Multiverse Saga, but many people undoubtedly anticipate that Holland’s hero will play a crucial role in protecting reality during Kang’s last assault.
Starz is currently offering Spider-Man: No Way Home for streaming. With the release of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Phase 5 of the MCU has officially begun.
