After spending years away from Hollywood, the Vietnamese-born actor is relishing his time back in the spotlight. After appearing in movies like The Goonies and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, he is now ready to make his MCU debut.
Quan’s persona is largely unknown, however there have been some indications released due to the super-powered Disney+ series’ rumoured later summer premiere date.
A Season 2 Newbie to Loki
Ke Huy Quan will join actors including Tom Hiddleston, Owen Wilson, and Sophia Di Martino in Season 2 of Marvel Studios’ Loki, it was announced at D23 Expo 2022.
Quan does not shown in any publicly available footage, and Marvel has not yet provided any official information on the mystery surrounding his strange involvement.
Insider Daniel Richtman announced on his Patreon in December 2022 that the Everything Everywhere All at Once actor would be portraying a role in the streaming series known as Ouroboros.
Richtman referred to the position as the “Q of the TVA and in charge of all the tech,” alluding to the James Bond character Q. In those movies, Q leads the fictional Q Branch of the British Secret Service and provides its agents with all kinds of crazy technology and apparatus.
Quan will probably fulfil a similar function for the Multiversal TVA (Time Variance Authority), which is controlled by He Who Remains, an evil Kang the Conqueror variant.
Debut of Ke Huy Quan on D23
D23 Expo 2022 attendees in Anaheim, California were fortunate to be given a sneak peek at what to anticipate from Ke Huy Quan’s TVA technician in footage that was shown there.
In what appeared to be an archive area within the TVA, the video showed Quan briefly talking with Mobius and Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston and Owen Wilson, respectively. The room was filled with various Multiversal artefacts and souvenirs from various points in time and space, and Quan’s character was smiling warmly at the couple from Season 1 as they passed by.
Although the extent of Quan’s involvement in the show is yet unknown, given that he has been spotted standing alongside other Loki stars, Season 2‘s events are expected to feature Quan heavily.
What to Expect from Season 2 of Loki
Although if information about Ke Huy Quan in Loki Season 2 is still lacking, there is still a lot to learn from the bits of knowledge that have leaked.
According to Daniel Ritchman’s assessment of the actor’s persona, he will undoubtedly be essential to Loki’s Multiversal mission to overthrow Kang.
The “search of… Kang Variants to map out and see the extent of their control across time,” is the central theme of the second season of the streaming show. Hence, Loki and company will need to be equipped with the best to fight Jonathan Majors‘ Marvel villain due to the proliferation of different Kangs.
Someone like Quan’s Ouroboros would appear to be useful in that situation. Similar to how Q would ensure that 007 was prepared for success on a risky operation, Quan’s MCU figure will presumably do the same for Loki’s heroes.
The only difference is that Ouroboros will presumably offer the team with a variety of Multiversal artefacts held within the TVA, rather than rocket-equipped Aston Martins and dagger-adorned shoes.
The enigmatic figure may even join Loki’s team in battle, acting as a sort of mobile barracks of various universe-spanning gadgets and gizmos.
This summer, Loki Season 2 will make its Disney+ premiere.
