MCU Executive Discusses Whether Kang Appearance In Reboot for Fantastic Four

As the Multiverse Saga of the MCU progresses, Kang the Conqueror’s name will continue to appear, leaving fans to speculate about what projects he might show up in.

Fantastic Four MCU Kang

Kang (Jonathan Majors), who MCU viewers first encountered in Loki as He Who Remains, forewarned of his versions. This warning was reinforced by the Kaang that appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

It would make sense for the time-traveling bad guy to make another appearance in the ongoing telling of Multiverse-related storylines in Phases 5 and 6, now that many Kaang Variants have been introduced to the MCU and their threat levels have been defined.

This was confirmed by a Marvel executive, who hinted that the character would make a debut in the Fantastic Four remake in 2025.

The Fantastic Four will include Kang the Conqueror.

Kang

Den of Geek asked Stephen Broussard, a creative executive at Marvel Studios and producer of Quantumania, if Kaang (Jonathan Majors) may make an appearance in the Fantastic Four movie in 2025.

There was no formal information provided by Broussard, but he did say that he “think[s] there will be no corner of the MCU” where Kaang won’t play at least some role.

“I don’t want to speak too specifically about what might or might not happen in that film [‘Fantastic Four’]. They obviously have an amazing rogues gallery, and the sky’s the limit with them. But Kang as a force, Kaang as a plurality, feels very exciting to us, and I think there will be no corner of the MCU that won’t be affected by Jonathan and by Kang moving forward.”

Given how attached the villain is to Marvel’s First Family, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Kaang appear in at least a cameo role if “the sky’s the limit with [Fantastic Four rogues]” for the team’s future movie.

In fact, it’s interesting to note that Kang hasn’t been referred to by his entire comics name, Nathaniel Richards, up to this point. Indeed, like that Richards. Kaang is actually a comic book descendent of Reed Richards, a member of the Fantastic Four (Mr. Fantastic).

Broussard went on to hint that Kaang would not always appear in the same form in different projects, saying it is “that feels very exciting,” to think that “his character [play] radically different versions of the same person”

“That feels very exciting to us, the idea of Jonathan playing these characters is very unique. I was just trying to think this morning about, like, is there anything comparable in movies, to this character playing radically different versions of the same person? It feels unique to explore and I’m glad we get to be the ones to do it.”

In addition, Broussard talked about what’s coming up and how new initiatives will act as points of connection so that they “can talk to each other in exciting  ways:”

“Moving forward, the connectivity and where these films can talk to each other in exciting ways starts to come together. That form follows the function of making something entertaining, aspiring to make a great series in ‘Loki’ and aspiring to make a great movie in ‘Quantumania.'”

Under various guises, The Fantastic Four have engaged Kaang numerous times. Famously, the First Family engaged in combat with the Conqueror while he was going by the name Rama-Tut; this Variation is anticipated to continue to appear in the MCU in the future.

Given how late in the Multiverse Saga the team will be presented, emphasising the connections between the Fantastic Four and Kaang would be a useful approach to integrate the new team into the storyline that has already been developed.

The Fantastic Four hits theatres on February 14, 2025.
