At the conclusion of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, did Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror pass away? Peyton Reed, the director of the MCU threequel, opened out in a recent interview.
Fans have only recently begun to see Marvel Studios’ quantum adventure in theatres, and it gives them their first substantial look at Majors‘ Multiversal antagonist.
Many people are curious about what happened to Kang, the “warrior [Variant]” who caused Scott Lang and his family so much difficulty in the super-powered movie, despite the fact that Kang’s future was hinted at in Ant-Man 3.
The remainder of this page includes plot details for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, so beware.
It is now uncertain if this specific Kang is dead and gone or a menace that could return in the future because he was dragged into his very own Multiversal Power Core.
In Ant-Man and the Wasp Quantumania, is Kang killed?
Peyton Reed, the director of Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, talked about whether or not the film’s central Villain Variant is actually dead following their epic showdown. Paul Rudd plays the little lead character.
In response to a query about whether Kang the Conqueror in this iteration perished in Ant-Man 3, Reed was evasive, saying, “I think that’s the real question.”
He cited the film’s conclusion as an example of how viewers may identify with Paul Rudd’s MCU hero as he “struggled with that question”:
“Well, I think that’s the real question. I think you see Scott Lang struggling with that question. And I think it’s, you know, I didn’t actually know that that was a hard, fast rule that if you don’t see the body that doesn’t mean —”
I think Kang, or the Kang versions, are going to have a presence throughout Phase 5, the director bemoaned. For the time being, it doesn’t matter that the heroes “prevent[ed] [this Variation] from getting out of the quantum realm”:
“I think Kang, or the Kang variants, are going to be a presence,” I mean, in this whole Phase 5. There is a movie coming out called ’Avengers: Kang Dynasty,.’ What does that mean? I’m not sure, I’m not doing that. We’ll find out. But to me, it was all about Kang the Conqueror, and coming up against these heroes and sort of, you know, them preventing him from getting out of the quantum realm.”
“You don’t really want an answer to that question,” Reed remarked when asked one final time if this Kang was dead.
“You don’t really want an answer to that question! You don’t really want an answer to that question. You think you do, but you don’t.”
Is Warrior Kang from Ant-Man 3 dead?
Because the MCU has been presenting stories for the past 15 years, viewers have come to understand that nobody is truly dead unless a body is present. Yet even then, a lot of characters that were thought to be gone for good have returned and gone on to have successful careers under the Marvel Studios umbrella.
This also seems to apply to the Kang Variant from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
It’s not like Jonathan Major’s Multiversal villain was pulverised to bits, making it seem like his rule was over. He was instead drawn within his Multiversal Power Core, which the public has already seen inside.
Can Scott Lang and the Ant family expect any trouble from this Kang?
The answer is affirmative, and it’s very probable that he does. Peyton Reed even makes a reference to that reality in the movie’s climactic scenes when Paul Rudd’s MCU hero wonders if Jonathan Majors’ villain was really defeated.
‘Warrior’ Kang and his other Variants from the Council of Kangs post-credits sequence might return in some way. Or might he be the Kang from The Kang Dynasty who was hinted at to defeat several Avengers?
In theatres around the world right now is Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania.
