Jonathan Majors (Kang the Conqueror) appeared in fresh footage in the most recent Loki Season 2 trailer despite the controversy surrounding him.
The actor is scheduled to go on trial in September after being detained in March on suspicion of assault. Marvel has been mum on the subject, refusing to even acknowledge that the incident took place, much less let fans know if plans for Majors would change.
With Kang’s name even appearing in the title of the fifth Avengers movie (Avengers: The Kang Dynasty), Majors is set to be the major antagonist of the continuing Multiverse Saga of the MCU. The following episode of Majors will be in Loki’s second season, which premieres on Disney+ in October.
Kang Is Featured in the New Loki Video
Kang the Conqueror, played by Jonathan Majors, was revealed in a brand-new way in the most recent trailer for Loki’s second season.
The suit-clad, almost overly formal Victor Timely, who made his big-screen debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania‘s second post-credit scene, is the Kang Variant shown in the trailer. Given that he appeared to be clutching an object resembling an hourglass in the trailer in front of a wall of clocks, the character’s name seems appropriate on several levels. Remember that Loki is already a time-traveling television program.
More hazily, Kang can be seen observing someone push a person who appears to be wearing a suit akin to the one Owen Wilson‘s character Mobius (from earlier promotional material) wore. If not working for TVA, he seemed to be at least listening to something about it.
In this picture, Victor Timely appears to demonstrate some of his inventions to a gathering of bystanders, which is additional footage from the first season teaser.
The environment and equipment used here have elements of both steampunk and the Stark Expo from Captain America: The First Avenger.
After Loki Season 2, could Majors be recast?
Majors’ controversy has not been addressed by Marvel in public, even though other projects have replaced him since his arrest.
Additionally, Marvel has made no mention of revising its intentions for Kang’s future in the series and has continued to paint him as a serious threat to the Avengers and beyond.
Majors may seem like the more times he appears in the MCU, the more difficult it would be to recast him, but Marvel has never been deterred by that in the past.
Famously, Mark Ruffalo started playing the Hulk in Avengers, taking over for Edward Norton as War Machine after Terrance Howard played Rhodey in the original Iron Man.
Therefore, depending on how this month’s trial turns out, Majors may be recast for future projects, even though his “with” credit shows that he appears frequently throughout Loki’s second season.
On October 6, Loki season two premieres on Disney+.
Is there a 2nd season of Loki?
As of right now, Loki Season 2’s Disney+ debut date is set for October 6, 2023. In January 2021, Michael Waldron, the first season’s head writer, agreed to an all-encompassing contract with Disney that includes his participation in Loki’s second season.
Is Loki coming back to the MCU?
We had a better understanding of what to anticipate from the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming years after Marvel Studios’ major presentation at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2022. And that also includes a lot more Disney Plus programmes, like the just-started Loki season 2.
Who stars in Loki Season 2?
“Loki” also stars Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Wunmi Mosaku, Eugene Cordero, Rafael Casal, Tara Strong, Kate Dickie, Liz Carr, and Neil Ellice in addition to Hiddleston and Majors.
How is Loki still alive after the endgame?
After a few years, Classic Loki makes an attempt to get out of his seclusion, but the TVA discovers him and takes him in as a variant. This demonstrates unequivocally that Loki survived the Infinity War in the Sacred Timeline and has spent the last few years residing on this uncharted world. So Loki is still alive—OUR Loki!
How many episodes will Loki 2 have?
Since then, fans have been speculating as to whether Marvel and Disney will put his character on hold. Majors will reportedly feature in “about half” of the season’s episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter. So, three out of the six episodes, are for those keeping track at home!
