Fantastic four: Marvel Teases Unexpected MCU Remake Plot

A senior Marvel Studios official said that the next Fantastic four revival for the MCU will feature an unexpected plot.

Given how well-liked the First Family is in both comics and the movies, there is still a lot of anticipation for their first MCU standalone narrative, which is set to debut in early 2025. However, while casting for the film is in in its early stages, some significant information about the plot that Marvel Studios will provide to the public has already been made known.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced in Summer 2022 that the Fantastic Four movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)` will not be an origin narrative, following in the footsteps of the Spider-Man franchise, with fans already being aware of the team’s history.

Fans will be clamouring for story details as they wait to learn more about what is happening, and with writing team Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer in place for the script and Matt Shakman taking on directing duties, they will be in high demand.

MCU Fans Will Be Surprised by Fantastic Four

The Fantastic Four, rather than the X-Men, will make its MCU debut first, according to Marvel Studios VP of Production & Development Nate Moore, who also noted that fans will be “quite startled” by what the studio is doing with the reboot:

“Fantastic Four, Fantastic Four. We have Matt Shakman directing, who’s so talented and who did WandaVision for us, and I think people are going to be pretty surprised by what we’re doing.”

In a February interview, the film’s director, Matt Shakman, also discussed the picture and contrasted his work on it to his tenure on the Star Trek series.

He expressed his eagerness to dive into the family component of the team’s trip by noting how they “both were launched in the ’60s” and that they were both “about optimism and looking to the stars and technology.”

“It’s really a family there and to be able to go back and tackle something that I truly love, and they’re very similar in some ways: they both were launched in the ’60s at the same time, they’re both about optimism and looking to the stars and [how] technology can solve everything, and they’re about family too — the family you have, the family you make. So they’re aligned in many ways and speak to my heart and equally, so I’m excited to be working on ‘Fantastic Four.”

He described the chance to helm Fantastic Four as “too hard to pass up,” expressing how eager he was to return to the Marvel universe following his work on WandaVision:

“But movies have different journeys and momentums and and schedules are a little bit mercurial, and so when the ‘Fantastic Four’ opportunity came up, it was just too hard to pass up, and to go back home to Marvel, a place that I worked on ‘WandaVision’ at, with those people who are wonderful collaborators.”

How Will the Fantastic four Surprise Us?

With three live-action films from 20th Century Fox that focused on the team’s experiences over the previous 20 years, Marvel Studios is undoubtedly eager to give the Fantastic Four its own unique spin. But right now, the key question is what those surprises will be.

Given that Kang the Conqueror is already in the picture and that Doctor Doom has already been teased, this may take the shape of a brand-new antagonist that the First Family has never seen before.

Along with the villain, this will be the team’s first time existing in the same realm as the other Avengers, which will be especially significant as they gear up for their two largest adventures yet, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. By itself, this will provide them the chance to prepare for some seriously world-threatening future events while working with a larger team of Marvel characters they’ve never appeared on screen with before.

And while moviegoers breathlessly await the introduction of the film’s main cast of actors, the tale they’ll tell before Phase 6 begins will be an equally thrilling concept.

On February 14, 2025, Fantastic Four will make its theatrical debut.
