The Oscar-winning filmmaker Chloé Zhao‘s entry into the Marvel Cinematic Universe was one of the most eagerly awaited movies in Marvel Studios’ history.

The movie, however, bombed upon release, both critically and commercially. Zhao, whose MCU franchise’s future has been called into question, has stayed steadfast in her declaration that, should an Eternals 2 materialise, she “would be back in a second.”

Another performer from Zhao’s Marvel Studios blockbuster has now provided their perspective on the first movie’s conflicting reviews, after a succession of Eternals stars who did the same.

Barry Keoghan said on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast that he believed Eternals’ unfavourable response was caused by the fact that “it was new.” He said the picture has a “[new] kind of feel to it” and that director Chloé Zhao thrives on bringing “raw performances” to the screen.

“I think Chloe [Zhao] brought a whole kind of feel to it. You know? So Chloe brings – as you’ve seen from her past films – raw performances and really really touching performances. I don’t think it was… I think it was new. I think it was just new. It was new for the Marvel world.”

It was merely “a new kind of movie in the Marvel universe,” the Druig actor stated, adding that he “[doesn’t]think [the movie] was bad .”

Keoghan said that he is “always optimistic ” about the possibility of an Eternals 2 and added, “[he wants to] know what Druig is doing right now:”

Barry Keoghan: “I’m always optimistic. I actually spoke with Victoria [Alonso] recently. Victoria Alonso, she was there and I didn’t get a chance to chat with her too much, but yeah. I’m always optimistic, always. I wanna know what Druig is doing right now.”

Josh Horowitz: So many people to hang out with. Harry Styles, Kumail. Who knows?

Keoghan: “Yeah, anyways we’ll see. You’re not going to get that out of me. I know nothing,. I know nothing.”

Even while it appears that many of the Eternals actors and crew would be eager to return for a sequel, the likelihood of Eternals 2 still remains uncertain given how poorly received the original movie was.

Keoghan earlier said that the absence of sequel news left him “bruised. As a result, it is encouraging to note that he is at least “optimistic” about a follow-up at this point, albeit it is unknown if this will actually occur.

The possibility of Keoghan and the squad of everlasting superheroes making a comeback to the big screen may not be as far as one may have believed, according to a recent listing from Korea that stated Eternals 2 was “planned to be produced,
