Actor from the Disney+’s X-Men ’97 Reboot Teases “Wild” Season 1

For one of its main characters, the upcoming X-Men ’97 revival has a “wild” first season planned.

X-Men Disney+, Professor X, Wolverine, Rogue

X-Men ’97 is a sequel/reboot to the 1990s animated series X-Men: The Animated Series and features many of the original show’s voice actors, though Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed the Disney+ release date.

A certain X-Men ’97 star recently gave fans an update on Season 2 news in addition to describing what Season 1 has in store for her hero.

Star of X-Men ’97 Discusses Season 1 Story

Lenore Zann, who performs Rogue’s voice in X-Men ’97, called Rogue’s Disney+ adventure a “wild ride” in an interview with Toonado.

Zann responded that Rogue is her “favorite character I’ve played to date” when questioned about returning to the role for the remake and thanked the audience for their “support for our original series:”

“It’s fantastic to get this opportunity to re-inhabit the character of Rogue who is my favorite character I’ve played to date. I’m grateful to the fans for their loyalty and support for our original series – and for my performance – which has made this possible.”

While the series’ devoted following undoubtedly influenced Marvel Studios to approve the revival, Zann also gave Beau DeMayo and Charley Feldman credit for “insisting [she] come back as Rogue:”

“And I’m also grateful to Beau DeMayo and Charley Feldman from ‘X-Men ’97’ for insisting I come back as Rogue.”

But again, when questioned about her mutant’s revamped plot, Leonore Zann mainly kept short of spoilers but did manage to indicate that Rogue “will go through a lot” and encouraged fans to be ready for a “wild ride:”

“As usual, Rogue will go through a lot in ‘X-Men ’97’. Like me, she’s a passionate woman who can’t help wearing her heart on her sleeve. So, buckle up for a wild ride!”

In addition to Zann’s hints, Beau DeMayo has also revealed a few facts about Rogue’s forthcoming plot, revealing that “Gambit” would be included and that they will wonder why they shouldn’t take pleasure in “this life of acceptance” that they have worked for:

“…Other X-Men like Jean and the will they, won’t they couple Gambit and Rogue are starting to begin to question, ‘Maybe there is a life… we’ve been fighting for this life of acceptance, can we just go out there and enjoy it for once, maybe?'”

Other Character News from X-Men 1997

X-Men ’97 was supposed to debut in the Autumn of 2023, however, due to recent MCU delays and quiet on an official release date, fans are now expecting a 2024 premiere.

Fans have a general notion of what to anticipate from the series based on merchandising and further remarks from the actors and crew.

X-Men ’97’s first episode, for instance, has the squad “confront[ing] a new Sentinal threat” when they are “unexpectedly attacked” mid-mission, according to Beau DeMayo and producer Jake Castorena who offered information about it:

“We showed a clip from the first episode that shows the X-Men going off [on] a mission to confront a new Sentinel threat… And mid-mission they are unexpectedly attacked and have to use their Danger Room practice skills to save themselves.”

Additionally, it appears that Magneto, the classic X-Men villain, is in charge of the squad while Storm and CYCLOPS are the “main characters” of the show. This means that Rogue isn’t the only mutant who is in for a “wild ride.”

Marvel fans should not have to wait too long to learn more about X-Men ’97, its mutants, and Season 1 in general.

For X-Men ’97, no precise release date has been announced.
