Iron Man: Disney Releases Never-Before-Seen Post-Credits Clip

Disney posts a never-before-seen post-credits clip online for the movie Iron Man.

A never-before-seen version of the Iron Man post-credits scene has just been released by Disney and director Jon Favreau.

Iron Man: Disney Releases Never-Before-Seen Post-Credits Clip

In Iron Man, Robert Downey Jr. and Samuel L. Jackson set a new bar for the entertainment industry by starring in the MCU’s very first post-credits scene. In the subsequent 15 years, almost every MCU film would follow this pattern, with all but three Marvel Studios productions or Disney+ series featuring at least one post-credits scene.

In this specific scenario, Nick Fury initially informed Tony Stark of the Avengers Initiative, which allowed Marvel to launch its massively successful cinematic universe with the possibility of team-up movies.

Even previous versions of this scene have made references to Spider-Man and the X-Men, providing Jackson the opportunity to breathe new life into an already legendary MCU scenario.

Publication of an Alternative Iron Man Post-Credits Scene

The post-credits scene from Iron Man (2008), a movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was never made available to the public until director Jon Favreau unveiled it during a Jimmy Kimmel Live! interview, which is produced by Disney.

In 2007, when filming the now-famous “Avengers Initiative” tag scene starring Nick Fury, Favreau revealed to Kimmel that he invited actor Samuel L. Jackson to participate in a “just for fun” take that “wasn’t going to be in the movie.”

While most of the language in this revised version of the post-credits scene is comparable to the theatrical version, Jackson unleashes his famous “motherf***er” statement when Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark inquires about who he is:

Tony Stark: “Who the hell are you?”

Nick Fury: “Nick Fury, motherf***er.”

Almost Dropped First MCU F-Bomb in Iron Man

In his more than 50 years in Hollywood, Samuel L. Jackson has used the phrase “motherf***er” more than 150 times, making it one of his most well-known uses. And considering that viewers are still waiting to hear the first official MCU F-bomb, this situation had the potential to be amusing on all counts.

Favreau finally stated that this take was merely for fun behind the scenes because it was highly unlikely that Paramount and Marvel Studios, which created the MCU, would have used the F-word even before Disney acquired the MCU company.

The fact that this take was preserved for almost 15 years is maybe the most astounding thing, especially in light of the public interest in MCU deleted scenes.

The MCU will probably have to wait until 2024’s Deadpool 3, which is confirmed to be the MCU’s first R-rated production, before using the F-bomb in any official capacity.

Only time will tell if Jackson will ever have the chance to make his catchphrase canon in the MCU thanks to Nick Fury.

Disney+ is presently offering Iron Man for streaming.
