Deadpool and Wolverine: Missing 3 Main Characters from the First Two Movies

In a universe where unpredictability reigns supreme and the absurd meets the extraordinary, Deadpool and Wolverine have carved out their niche as irreverent icons of the superhero genre. However, as news breaks that the upcoming installment of their saga will be without three mainstays from the first two movies—Cable, Domino, and Colossus—the landscape of their adventures takes on a new, uncharted dimension. In addition to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, several well-known characters will reappear in the most recent Deadpool & Wolverine teaser.

Not All of These Characters Will Appear in Deadpool & Wolverine

Deadpool 3 — Cast, Release Date, and Everything We Know So Far

Cable – Josh Brolin

First among the missing trio is Cable, portrayed with gritty intensity by Josh Brolin. Cable’s enigmatic backstory and time-traveling antics provided a perfect foil to Deadpool’s zany antics, culminating in a partnership that was as tumultuous as it was entertaining. His absence leaves a palpable void in the ensemble, raising questions about how Deadpool will navigate the perilous waters of the future without his grizzled, yet strangely endearing, comrade by his side.

In a recent Dune 2 interview with Comicbook.com, Josh Brolin acknowledged that, despite playing the time-traveling Cable in Deadpool 3, he will probably be absent.

He had recently rescued Deadpool when the public last saw him. Wade Wilson takes his time-traveling gadget shortly after that.

It is difficult to envision Cable not showing up at all in Deadpool 3. It is peculiar that, contrary to what the Deadpool & Wolverine teaser shows, he is not spending the Mercenary’s birthday with all of Wade’s pals.

Many fans hypothesized that Deadpool’s time-traveling mischievousness was the initial cause of his TVA problems. Maybe Cable was first reached by the self-appointed Timeline defenders?

However, it’s crucial to keep in mind that an actor may not always be telling the whole truth when they say anything. Thus, Cable enthusiasts shouldn’t give up.

Domino – Zazie Beetz

Actress Zazie Beetz made it clear to Collider back in June 2023 that she “is not going to be in Deadpool 3.”

Equally conspicuous by her absence is Domino, portrayed with sass and style by Zazie Beetz. Domino’s luck-altering abilities added an element of unpredictability to the Deadpool universe, turning even the most dire situations into opportunities for comedic chaos. Her absence not only deprives the franchise of a formidable ally but also raises doubts about how Deadpool will fare in the face of danger without her uncanny knack for turning the odds in their favor.

Similar to Cable, it is a bit startling when her character disappears from the movie. After all, Wade Wilson’s birthday celebration in Deadpool & Wolverine includes X-Force members Peter and Shatterstar, so how is Domino missing?

The character made her screen debut in Deadpool 2, as she assisted the group in preventing the mutant Russell from following a path filled with darkness. Based on the circumstances shown in the movie, she ought to be alive and well today.

In the end, spectators could be surprised by Beetz. There are always reboots, after all!

Weasel – TJ Miller

Completing the trio of absentees is Weasel, portrayed with comedic flair by TJ Miller. Weasel’s role as Deadpool’s sidekick and confidant brought a dose of levity to the proceedings, serving as the perfect foil to Deadpool’s irreverence. His absence leaves a noticeable void in the comedic dynamic of the franchise, prompting speculation about how Deadpool will navigate his adventures without his trusted ally by his side.

Regretfully, beginning in 2017, the actor was mired in allegations of sexual assault and legal issues on several fronts. He hasn’t had a significant on-screen credit since, and the other projects he was initially slated for quickly canceled him.

Fans shouldn’t expect to see Weasel return because of all of that. If Ryan Reynolds‘ Wade made a joke about dying off-screen, it wouldn’t be that shocking.

BONUS: Gina Carano’s Angel Dust

Like TJ Miller’s Weasel, Gina Carano encountered a great deal of controversy while in the public eye.

In the first Deadpool movie, Carano portrayed Angel Dust, a mutant who aided Ajax, Wade Wilson’s first adventure antagonist. Surprisingly, her death was not confirmed at the film’s end, suggesting that she is most likely still alive.

Disney quickly fired the actress from The Mandalorian in early 2021 when she was seen posting anti-Semitic and other radical and abusive opinions on social media.

Disney likely doesn’t want anything to do with the actress, especially given she just sued them with Elon Musk’s assistance—especially considering Disney signed the check for Deadpool & Wolverine.

However, as fans mourn the absence of these beloved characters, there is also cause for excitement and anticipation. With change comes opportunity, and the departure of Cable, Domino, and Colossus paves the way for new faces to emerge and new dynamics to unfold. Whether Deadpool and Wolverine find themselves teaming up with lesser-known mutants, forging unexpected alliances, or facing off against entirely new adversaries, one thing is certain: their adventures are far from over.

As the Deadpool/Wolverine saga ventures into uncharted territory, the stage is set for a new chapter in their storied history—one filled with fresh challenges, unexpected twists, and, of course, plenty of irreverent humor. While the absence of Cable, Domino, and Colossus may mark the end of an era, it also signals the beginning of a bold new era for the dynamic duo, one that promises to redefine the boundaries of superhero cinema once again.

Who Else Has It Been Verified Will Return?

Many of the returning faces are very certainly going to make little more than cameo appearances in the finished film.

Deadpool’s next adventure will feature an appearance by Aaron Stanford’s Pyro from X-2, according to a recent teaser. Jennifer Gardner’s Elektra is also expected to make an appearance.

It’s possible for Taylor Swift to make a brief appearance.

Wade Wilson celebrated his birthday in a scene that opened the movie’s first teaser, confirming the return of a few well-known characters. Among them were Vanessa by Morena Baccarin, Negasonic Teenage Warhead by Brianna Hildebrand, Colossus by Stefan Kapičić, Blind Al by Leslie Uggams, Dopinder by Karan Soni, and many others.

With Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine taking center stage, it’s unlikely that viewers won’t catch a glimpse of any of the mutant’s erstwhile allies. Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Halle Barry’s Storm, James Marsden’s Cyclops, and other characters may be examples of this.

In the realm of superhero cinema, few pairings have captured the imaginations of audiences quite like Deadpool and Wolverine. With their razor-sharp wit, unbridled ferocity, and penchant for breaking the fourth wall, these two antiheroes have carved out a special place in the hearts of fans worldwide. However, recent news surrounding their upcoming adventures has sparked both excitement and concern among the faithful.

The absence of these key characters, whose identities remain shrouded in mystery, threatens to shake up the established dynamic of the Deadpool and Wolverine franchises. For fans who have grown accustomed to the chemistry and camaraderie between the Merc with a Mouth and the adamantium-clawed mutant, this news may come as a shock.

One of the primary questions swirling in the minds of fans is: How will the absence of these characters impact the narrative landscape of the upcoming films? In the case of Deadpool, whose irreverent humor and penchant for chaos have endeared him to audiences, the departure of familiar faces could pave the way for new and unexpected alliances. Whether he finds himself teaming up with lesser-known mutants or forging unlikely partnerships with erstwhile adversaries, Deadpool’s ability to adapt and improvise ensures that his adventures are always brimming with surprises.

Similarly, Wolverine’s solo ventures have often been characterized by his tumultuous relationships with both allies and enemies. The absence of key characters from his past may force Wolverine to confront his own demons in a more introspective journey, delving into the depths of his psyche as he grapples with the ghosts of his past. In the absence of familiar faces, Wolverine may find solace in forging new connections or rediscovering forgotten allies who hold the key to his redemption.

However, amidst the uncertainty surrounding the missing characters, one thing remains abundantly clear: Deadpool and Wolverine are poised to face their greatest challenges yet. Whether battling against formidable foes or navigating the complexities of their own identities, the dynamic duo will undoubtedly rise to the occasion with their trademark blend of humor, heart, and heroism.

As fans eagerly await further details regarding the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine films, one thing is certain: the absence of three main characters from the first two movies may mark the beginning of a bold new chapter in the saga of these iconic antiheroes. With boundless potential for innovation and reinvention, the stage is set for Deadpool and Wolverine to redefine the boundaries of superhero cinema once again.
