Long before he left the MCU as Drax, Bautista teased his departure.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is “probably going to be the end” of the character’s narrative, according to a prior suggestion from the actor, who also stated that his Marvel contract for the role called for just one more appearance.

Along with reflecting on how portraying Drax affected his life, the WWE Legend included the hashtag “#GoodbyeDrax to his Instagram photo.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Dave Bautista Says Farewell

Dave Bautista spoke candidly about portraying Drax in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy and expressed his acceptance of the notion that it is his final depiction of the character in the most recent GQ interview.

Bautista is saying goodbye to Drax after nine years, six motion pictures, and a Christmas special on Disney+.

While acknowledging his gratitude for the role, Bautista noted that there is a sense of “relief” that it is ended, adding that the makeup procedure made it “not entirely nice.”

Bautista said that he is unsure of whether he wants Drax to carry on his legacy. The former WWE champion said he would rather to “do more dramatic stuff:”

“I’m so grateful for Drax. I love him. But there’s a relief [that it’s over]. It wasn’t all pleasant. It was hard playing that role. The makeup process was beating me down. And I just don’t know if I want Drax to be my legacy – it’s a silly performance, and I want to do more dramatic stuff.”

It took months of repeated Disney tryouts for Bautista to finally be cast as Drax. This is in addition to the speculations of him competing for the role with bigger personalities.

When he learned he had gotten the role of the Marvel superhero, Bautista recalled, he was in the vehicle on his way to the gym. The performer commented on the intense moment:

“I had to pull over because I was crying so hard. Turned right back around and walked into my house shaking to tell my wife I had gotten the role, and we were both standing there freaking out.”

Did Dave Bautista Just Give Away Drax’s Final Destiny in Vol. 3?

Fans assumed that at least one team member will pass away in the threequel after watching the tearjerking teaser for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. In addition, James Gunn, the director of Marvel, acknowledged that “not all” of the Guardians will make it out alive.

Although many believe Rocket Racoon will die, Dave Bautista’s most recent remarks imply that Drax’s journey will come to a close in Vol. 3.

Saying farewell to Drax would suggest that the character may not actually die, despite the fact that it seems like a straight-up spoiler, particularly in light of the fact that he is outright disclosing this information. At the conclusion of Vol. 3, Drax could decide to stop being a Guardian rather than die a terrible death.

In contrast, Bautista’s statement that he is pleased not to be playing Drax is not unexpected, especially given that he previously stated that putting on the makeup is “just a nightmare for him.

It makes sense that Bautista is relieved to be leaving the role of Drax, but there is no doubting that his interpretation of the character will continue to influence Marvel fans all around the world.

The release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is scheduled for this Friday, May 5.
