A Daredevil: Born Again cast member hinted that other MCU icons may make brief appearances in the Disney+ revival.
With the release of Daredevil: Born Again, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher, Wilson Fisk (a.k.a. Kingpin) played by Vincent D’Onofrio, and Charlie Cox’s titular Marvel character will all return.
The next relaunch already boasts a strong ensemble, which includes the main trio as well as Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, and Michael Gandolfini in an unspecified role.
Many anticipate that the show may wow viewers with unexpected cameos given that it is located in the larger MCU.
In Play’ MCU Characters for Daredevil Reboot
Actor Michael Gandolfini of Daredevil: Born Again discussed the likelihood of MCU cameos in the Disney+ reboot series while chatting with Collider.
Gandolfini hinted that the character is now a part of a “much bigger world” within the Avengers universe created by Marvel Studios, which is full of “other players” that might turn up in the programme:
“But I think people are gonna really be excited to be in Hell’s Kitchen and see the version of Daredevil that everyone knows and loves, but now a part of this much bigger world where all of these other players are now in play. So, it’s exciting.”
Charlie Cox, who plays Daredevil, recently expressed his enthusiasm for more significant MCU crossovers:
“I don’t know anything. I haven’t read anything from any scripts. So I don’t know. I have no idea. But the only thing that’s fun going forward for the Daredevil show is that of course when we were on Netflix, we didn’t have the opportunity to really have the crossovers other than the characters that we knew we had in that Netflix Marvel world.”
The newcomer to the MCU then briefly discussed his persona, stating that he is “from Staten Island.”
“I believe all I can say about my character is that… My character is from Staten Island and that’s about it, so… (laughs) Just a guy from Staten Island…”
Stone was a character from Marvel Comics who fought alongside Daredevil in Staten Island. Stone was also Stick’s favourite student and assisted Matt Murdock in resurrecting Elektra. The fact that Gandolfini is playing Stone could imply that he is the main character’s ally.
Gandolfini also shared his enthusiasm about joining the MCU:
“I mean, it’s incredible. It’s so, so exciting and daunting and everyone is so nice and so talented. I remember getting my first text from the producer, I was driving, and it said, ‘Welcome to the MCU!’ You see that and it just, like, hits you, you know? I teared up, and it’s just like, ‘Oh my God!’ I’m very grateful and lucky.”
Gandolfini discussed his involvement in Daredevil: Born Again’s first read-through in a different interview with ScreenRant, saying that“everyone is so kind and talented:”
“I don’t think much… We just had our first read-through. I think they’re great. I think they’re really exciting. Everyone is so kind, and talented, and I’m just like still pinching myself that I’m there, and I think I gotta be careful of Marvel not cutting my head off. So that’s sort of what I can say, But I’m very excited. And I think it’s gonna make people really happy to return back to this world, and Hell’s Kitchen, and all that.”
Which MCU Characters will Daredevil: Born Again Feature?
Due to its groundbreaking 18-episode runtime on Disney+, Daredevil: Born Again can include a lot of unexpected MCU crossovers.
Numerous well-known figures, in addition to Kingpin and the Punisher, may feature in the Daredevil revival on Disney+.
Given that it’s believed that Charlie Cox’s Daredevil would emerge in Echo first, Alaqua Cox’s Maya Lopez might make a cameo in Born Again to carry on the plot of her spin-off programme.
Another possibility is Tatiana Maslany’s She-Hulk, who might be repaying the favour after the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen made an appearance in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.
Other Defenders cast members who are returning, including Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter), might possibly appear.
Born Again should feature a sizable number of MCU characters, strengthening its ties to the greater shared universe.
Disney+ will debut Daredevil: Born Again in the spring of 2024.
