One of the Daredevil: Born Again stars from the original Netflix series broke her silence after having her role recast for the upcoming MCU Disney+ series.
While Daredevil and Kingpin from Netflix’s Defenders Saga are both expected to be played by Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio again, Marvel Studios has made it plain that many other roles will be recast for the forthcoming Disney+ entry.
Early March brought reports that Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson were absent from the Born Again call sheet, which suggested that both Karen Page and Foggy Nelson would be replaced by new actors in this MCU series.
There are many doubts regarding how the tale will integrate into the bigger MCU as well as maybe with its Netflix equivalent, which has many fans concerned and wondering what this means for other characters in Daredevil: Born Again.
Star of Daredevil Discusses Born Again Recast
In the Netflix series Daredevil, actress Ayelet Zurer played Vanessa, Wilson Fisk‘s love interest and ultimately wife. Zurer recently addressed being replaced for Marvel Studios’ Daredevil: Born Again series on Instagram.
This comes after Vanessa Fisk, the first character from the Netflix series to be openly replaced, was cast as Sandrine Holt in the next MCU series.
Zurer published an article in which she reflected on her three-season reign as Daredevil and listed her most memorable experiences.
She shared how disappointed she was to leave the Disney+ show in the second part of her Instagram Story while also expressing how much she still adores Vincent D’Onofrio as Kingpin:
“Sad to not take part. But I will always be Vincent D’Onofrio’s biggest fan”
When will casting for Daredevil: Born Again be complete?
With no information surrounding its relationship to or split from its Netflix counterpart, the casting of Daredevil: Born Again has been quite the intriguing subject. Although many people—including those who were recast—may be disappointed by this round of casting changes, it is hoped that everything will work in favour of Marvel creating a show that would appeal to the MCU fandom as a whole.
Beyond Cox, D’Onofrio, Holt, and Jon Bernthal‘s returning Punisher, Born Again has been quite active on the casting front, bringing in more than a dozen new talents to the series. However, most of the roles haven’t yet been made public.
But, as filming will continue for virtually the entire rest of this year, there is still plenty of time for these characters to be revealed, especially if Daredevil experiences the kind of delays that have recently afflicted the MCU.
Daredevil: Born Again is presently in production; Disney+ will air it in the spring of 2024.
