Chris Hemsworth’s movies list are long. Today we discuss Hemsworth`s Deleted Loki Scene. Chris Hemsworth makes a rare cameo appearance in a deleted scene from Loki’s physical media release, which is one of several bonus features.
The director of Loki, Kate Herron, disclosed that the veteran of the MCU had a secret role as Throg, a.k.a. Frog Thor, in Episode 5, which included The Void.
Even Hemsworth “recorded” new lines for the part, according to Herron. However, the actor’s portrayal of Throg solely featured an audible yell throughout the film; the character had no speaking lines.
Chris Hemsworth’s Special Cameo in Loki to Be Released
One of the deleted sequences from Loki’s physical media release centers on Loki’s coronation scene and features Frog Thor, also known as Throg, who is voiced by Chris Hemsworth.
The following is the official description of the deleted scene:
“Mobius reviews some moments from Loki’s timeline, in which Frog Thor makes an appearance during Loki’s coronation.”
Throg might play a big role in this deleted scene given that he didn’t have any spoken lines in his first appearance in the series.
Natalie Holt, the composer for Loki, revealed in an exclusive interview with The Direct in July 2021 that the sequence of Loki in the Asgardian throne room from the Season 1 teaser was intended to be a part of a deleted scene in which Throg beats Loki up in a TVA time loop:
“That was a moment in Episode 1. When Mobius is showing [Loki] his life, there were more moments in there. I think they just kind of cut it down to kind of give it a bit more focus. But there were a few extra moments in there, and that Frog of Thunder moment was one of them. I had actually written, I had done something with the choir for it like it was this big, grand moment where Loki takes over the crown in Asgard, and then you see Thor as a frog.”
Then Holt stated that the image of Loki seated on Asgard’s throne would be incorporated into the Throg sequence:
“Yeah! Where he’s like, rising like this [Holt raises her arms], and he’s wearing a crown. Yeah, that was part of it. It was going to be in it.”
The “Frog of Thunder” sequence’s composer, Loki, added that she “[didn’t] know where they [were]”:
“I don’t know if I should be talking about this! [‘Loki’ director Kate Herron] was hoping to release it as kind of, like, an extra scene at some point, but I don’t know. I don’t know where they are with that.”
Will the second season of Loki feature Chris Hemsworth’s frog Thor?
Fans would have a chance to see another moment starring Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston in this deleted Loki scene, even though it is not the customary reunion of the Asgardian siblings.
Hemsworth recorded new lines for the Frog of Thunder, unlike Loki Episode 5, which suggests that the actor will engage in humorous banter with Hiddleston’s God of Mischief in the deleted scene.
The scene’s placement in Loki’s physical media may also be a signal that Frog Thor will appear once more in Season 2 for a fleeting appearance.
Even the director of Loki, Kate Herron, expressed her opinion that Hemsworth enjoyed filming Throg’s lines for Season 1:
“Chris was… I think he was into it. I remember him laughing but it was just so surreal recording him, because even in the original version we had it was a very short scene anyway, so it was very short and sweet. But he found it very funny. I think he was probably just like, ‘Okay cool, what is this?'”
Furthermore, given that Hemsworth previously acknowledged in November 2022 that he had just watched the first episode, it is likely that the MCU veteran has already finished viewing Loki Season 1.
However, given the fact that both Netflix’s Extraction and Thor: Love and Thunder have reached their conclusion, it’s feasible that Hemsworth will return for more.
On October 6, Loki Season 2 is scheduled to debut on Disney+.
