by In her animated comeback to the MCU with What If…? Season 2 on Disney+, Cate Blanchett’s Hela from Thor: Ragnaork gave MCU fans their first glimpse of her.
Season 2 of What If…? will feature more than twenty new confirmed MCU heroes and villains when the series returns to the streaming service after nine episodes of wild alternate world adventures.
The Thor: Ragnarok villain Hela, played by Cate Blanchett, was one of the first announced members of that cast. She created an enormous impression when she was revealed to be Thor’s half-sister in the third phase of the Infinity Saga.
Even though Season 2 is expected to be even crazier than Season 1 was, there isn’t much in the way of preview images or promotional materials.
Before What If…?, Hela Merch was unveiled. Period 2
Hela’s new look, which will be shown in Season 2 of Marvel Studios’ What If…?, is revealed in recently leaked images of officially-licensed Marvel products.
The images display a Funko Vinyl soda can with Cate Blanchett’s Hela sporting a new, maybe Asian-inspired design. This seems to be consistent with earlier reports that she will appear in an episode alongside both Odin and the Mandarin, and her attire, which is reminiscent of the Ten Rings, suggests that she may even collaborate with the latter:
Bryan Andrews, who directed Hela’s What If…? episode, was interviewed by Laughing Place and claimed that this episode would feature “Hela as you’ve never seen her before.”
What Would Hela Bring to Season 2 of What If?
Hela was only briefly addressed in Season 1 of What If…? Her helmet was featured in Episode 2 next to the late Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa Star-Lord as part of the Collector’s display on Knowhere. But, Cate Blanchett will now get the chance to fully resurrect the character for the first time, donning an exciting new appearance that is visible in this picture.
Though it’s tough to determine the plotline Marvel will give Hela based solely on this image, interest is growing to see what she’ll accomplish in her first journey alongside her father, Odin, Shang-Chi, and the Mandarin, the main antagonist of the Legend of the Ten Rings.
Yet with all the other difficulties the Marvel team will encounter in Season 2, having the Goddess of Death involved should only give the unexplored universes a new complexity.
How about if? No particular date has been announced for the release of Season 2, however it is anticipated to premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2023.
