The forthcoming sequel, Captain America 4: forthcoming World Order, will buck a pattern that fans have noticed in the MCU since Avengers: Endgame, according to the production designer.

The lack of firmly rooted plot points in the 10 Phases 4 and 5 Marvel Studios films released after Avengers: Endgame has been criticised by many fans of the franchise.

Some people have expressed worry about how readily accessible some of the Multiverse Saga films are for general audiences because of the criticisms levelled at films like Thor: Love and Thunder and Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania for how their plots concentrate on less-realistic ideas like Gods or the Multiverse.

The tone of Captain America 4 has changed.

In contrast to many of the MCU’s cinematic releases since 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Captain America: New World Order director Sam Wilson’s new film will be “very grounded,” according to production designer Ramsey Avery, who spoke with Collider.

Captain America 4 will utilise “very forward-thinking” in the way it makes sure the story has “that sense of really happening in the world:” despite his continued excitement that “Marvel is trying some new stuff now” with its Multiverse-centric storytelling.

“The intent of this is to be very grounded, to make sure it has that sense of really happening in the world. So it’s a different sense in a lot of ways than particularly some of the more recent pieces have been. And it’s a very deliberate choice, and it’s a fascinating choice and an exciting choice. And it comes with a whole host of different kinds of questions involved in that.”

He also mentioned Julius Onah, the director of Captain America 4, with whom he had wished to collaborate for more than ten years. In particular, he applauded Onah for not having a “normal way of looking at Marvel,” which makes the follow-up even more intriguing.

With Disney+ series like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Hawkeye, Marvel’s latest Phases have occasionally chosen the more realistic path; with Secret Invasion, it will soon continue this trend. However, the movie division has sadly been badly weak in this area.

Coming theatrical releases like the new Captain America may soon address these fan criticisms regarding the Multiverse Saga. Even more epic journeys like Spider-Man 4 and Avengers: The Kang Dynasty seem to keep close to the ground in terms of their storylines.

Will Captain America 4 Benefit from a Grounded Nature?

Even with Captain America franchise films like Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the MCU has had a lot of success with more realistic endeavours.

And given the same grounded nature seen in Anthony Mackie’s solo series, particularly in light of some of the difficult subjects he tackled on Disney+, Captain America 4 should have no trouble finding success.

Naturally, Sam’s wings/shield continue to play a significant role in his persona, and there will be a hint of the fantastical owing to Tim Blake Nelson’s spooky return as the Leader, who serves as the film’s main antagonist.

Additionally, with rumours suggesting that the Serpent Society will also be added in this sequel, making Captain America 4 a realistic attempt will only assist draw viewers into a narrative that is much more realistic than recent MCU adventures.

The continuing writer’s strike has temporarily halted Captain America: New World Order’s development, although the movie is still scheduled to open in theatres on May 3, 2024.
