The success of Ant-Man 3 and the Wasp: Quantumania in its first weekend of Disney+ streaming was recently demonstrated by new data.
After a protracted run in theatres, the most recent MCU threequel debuted on Disney+ on May 17. The movie, which made its big-screen premiere on February 17, has the longest period of time between its theatrical release date and the launch of its streaming service of any MCU picture.
Both fans and critics were fairly scathing in their assessments of Quantumania when it originally came out. But now that it’s available on Disney+, viewers will be able to judge how it really measures up to comparable works.
Tops Streaming Charts with Ant-Man 3
Following its Disney+ release on May 17, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is at the top of the most recent streaming rankings.
The Wrap said that according to Whip Media’s streaming statistics, Quantumania was the most-watched movie across all streaming services throughout the weekend of May 19–21.
The TV Time app is used by the Whip Media report to rate every single streaming service movie according to how many American viewers it garnered.
Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania came in first place on the list of the most watched films across all streaming services, surpassing works like Jennifer Lopez’s Netflix movie The Mother and the Paramount+ fantasy picture Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves.
The complete list of the top 10 streaming movies from May 19 to 21 is shown below:
1.Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania (Disney+)
2.Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves (Paramount+)
3.The Mother (Netflix)
4.Air (Prime Video)
5.White Men Can’t Jump (Hulu)
6.A Man Called Otto (Netflix)
7.Scream VI (Paramount+)
8.Ghosted (Apple TV+)
9.Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Disney+)
10.Missing (Netflix)
The May 19–21 weekend was Disney+’s most profitable weekend in months, according to the streaming report, which ultimately benefits the Disney brand, especially in light of the platform’s previous announcement that it had lost 4 million users.
Since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever made its platform debut on February 1, House of Mouse’s streaming service has not topped the viewership numbers until this past weekend.
But since it was added to the platform, Wakanda Forever has constantly ranked among the top 10 films.
However, it’s vital to keep in mind that outside of the MCU, other Disney+ films recently seen some success in the rankings.
For instance, Peter Pan & Wendy, which was distributed directly to the streaming platform, opened in the second-most-watched position on the list.
In comparison to other streaming services, Paramount+ had a strong weekend from May 19 to 21. Two of its films made the top 10, and one of them, Dungeons & Dragons: Honour Among Thieves, even reached number two.
Given that Dungeons & Dragons only made $205 million at the global box office during its theatrical run, the success Dungeons & Dragons has enjoyed on streaming services is encouraging for the studio.
It might give Paramount’s live-action Dungeons & Dragons series a little momentum boost if it keeps performing well.
The Mother by Jennifer Lopez, which peaked at number one the previous weekend, was followed at number two by Air by Ben Affleck.
The streaming debuts of Dungeons & Dragons and Ant-Man 3 did have an impact on both movies, but they are still in third and fourth place, respectively.
Despite receiving mixed reviews from both reviewers and viewers, Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls’ White Men Can’t Jump remake on Hulu managed to make it into the top 10 most-streamed films of the weekend.
But given that it falls short of the original movie, it won’t likely be able to hold onto its position on the mountain for very long.
Marvel continues to rule supreme.
Marvel Studios still possesses the capacity to rank among the biggest entertainment companies in the world with any new movie, even though Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania wasn’t the biggest hit with a lot of people.
Many casual moviegoers wait to see a new release in their own homes now that streaming is such a big deal and the majority of films are available to view on a streaming service in less than three months after their theatrical premieres.
Many people find going to the movies to be rather expensive, especially when you consider that most MCU films are probably seen by a full family.
This, along with the fact that Quantumania mainly garnered poor or unfavourable reviews, only serves to support the idea that, unless a family prioritises the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they probably wanted to wait till it was available on Disney+ before giving it a try.
How long Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has managed to remain in the top 10 is one feature of the streaming list that is very astounding.
Fans are still watching the movie, which debuted on Disney+ back in early February, to the point that it is outpacing hundreds of other films on various platforms.
Overall, Wakanda Forever’s performance must have impressed Marvel Studios and Disney, and both companies have a right to feel a little proud that Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is currently in such high demand among fans.
On Disney+, you may watch Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
