Paul Rudd’s replacement as Ant-Man in the MCU was just hinted to by Marvel.

Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man will eventually be replaced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Marvel Studios.

The introduction of multiple generational heroes, individuals who will eventually assume a prestigious mantle, has surely been a crucial aspect of Phase 4.

To mention a few, Hawkeye presented Kate Bishop, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier established Sam Wilson as the new Captain America, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever featured Shuri in the title role.

Fans, however, are concerned that Kathryn Newton’s new position as Cassie Lang may spell the end of Paul Rudd’s tenure as the now-iconic size-changing hero because Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania is just around the corner.

The following Ant-Man iteration

The next incarnation of Paul Rudd’s hero was discussed by Marvel Studios creative executive Stephen Broussard in an interview with Inverse.

After announcing that no Young Avengers project is currently in development, Broussard acknowledged that a large portion of Phase 4 was devoted to presenting the next generation of heroes.

The Quantumania producer also noted how Cassie Lang is “kind of like the new Ant-Man,” saying the premise is “really germane to the Ant-Man feature.”

“I think it’s very germane to the ‘Ant-Man’ film because it’s a generational film… the Ant-Man mantle gets passed down from Hank to Scott and now essentially to Cassie, who’s almost more of like the new Ant-Man, even though she doesn’t go by such, more so than the new Wasp.”

The newly presented hero “somewhat wants to be like her dad,” noted Cassie Lang actor Kathryn Newton when discussing her persona with The Hollywood Reporter.

“Well, I can say that what I felt so far is the fans really love Cassie, and I think we’re in a new phase of Cassie. We’re seeing a new version of Cassie, and she’s changed. She’s an independent girl, she’s impatient, and she desperately wants to use her huge heart for good, and kinda wants to be like her dad, but she’ll never admit it.”

What is Paul Rudd’s opinion on being replaced? The actor previously stated that he “think[s] there’s more story to tell there” with his own Antt-Man in an interview with Empire Magazine.

The actor also made light of the fact that Marvel Studios is “having those conversations in rooms that [he] doesn’t have keys to” in regards to his future.

Who Could Replace Ant-Man on the Screen?

Many people might still believe Quantumania is preparing Kathryn Newton’s Cassie to take Antt-place, Man’s but it’s important to note that the original story doesn’t quite proceed that way.

Cassie never takes on the role of Antt-Man in the comics. Instead, she adopts the persona of Stinger or Stature and becomes her own heroine.

It would be far simpler to rely on her to be a suitable replacement for Antt-Man himself in the MCU.

We’re crossing our fingers that Paul Rudd’s comments to Empire Magazine are still true and that there will be plenty more Scott Lang to come. In an ideal world, he would at least be able to complete the Multiverse Saga before retiring.

Although it would be exciting to watch Rudd interact with all of the unavoidable mutants who will eventually join the MCU, let’s hope the actor never gets old and wants to continue acting in these films for the rest of his life.

On February 17, the motion picture Antt-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania will be released.
