The Most Controversial Scene from Avengers: Endgame Has Its Own LEGO Set

Even though Avengers: Endgame and Infinity War were widely acclaimed as the ideal conclusion to the MCU’s Infinity Saga, one sequence did seem to annoy some viewers, and it has now been reproduced in LEGO form.

The all-female team-up scene in Avengers: Endgame has long been one of the film’s most contentious scenes. Some viewers have expressed the opinion that the battle scene appeared forced, patronizing, and faux-progressive.

Eric Kripke, the creator of The Boys, has already called the sequence “condescending” and “[dumb],” while Nia DaCosta, the director of The Marvels, has stated she was “very annoyed” the scene wasn’t longer.

LEGO Recreates the Divisive Female Team-Up from Avengers: Endgame

A contentious scene from Avengers: Endgame’s last showdown with Thanos is depicted in a brand-new 794-piece kit that LEGO has officially unveiled. The item is scheduled to go on sale on August 1 and will cost $99.99.

The set recreates the all-female team-up sequence from the pivotal combat that occurred as Captain Marvel attempted to fly the Infinity Gauntlet past Thanos’ forces to the time-traveling van during the Avengers complex siege.

Six female heroes from the combat scene are included on the set, along with Thanos, and it has “innovative features and movie-accurate details:”

“Kids join an iconic cast in a playset packed with innovative features and movie-accurate details. 7 characters are included – Captain Marvel, Okoye, Wanda Maximoff, Shuri, Valkyrie, Thanos and The Wasp.”

When compared to the real-life Endgame scene’s superpowered female characters, Pepper Pott’s Rescue, Mantis, Gamora, and Nebula are all conspicuously missing from the LEGO reconstruction.

Similar to the film, the LEGO recreation takes place in “the ruins of the Avengers’ compound” and even has “hidden surprises” alluding to other significant characters and scenes:

“The action takes place among the ruins of the Avengers’ compound. The authentically detailed battleground contains lots of places to attach the minifigures, plus hidden surprises for kids to discover: Captain America’s shield, Thor’s hammer, the time stone and the portal-opening rat.”

Even the “Endgame Final Battle” set comes with a special feature that “causes the battleground to expand:”

“Pulling on a pair of built-in handles causes the battleground to expand for even more adventures! For added digital fun, builders can zoom in, rotate sets in 3D and track their progress using the fun, intuitive LEGO Builder app.”

Will the Marvel A-Force Heroes Reunite?

In some ways, the contentious incident marked the beginning of a brand-new era for the MCU, since Phase 4 increased the prominence of female heroes. To honor the ladies of the MCU, Marvel Studios even produced a special documentary series.

After Phase 4, there are more female heroes in the MCU than ever before, thanks to recent films starring She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Shuri’s Black Panther, and many others. Therefore, it begs the question of whether Marvel Studios will ever try to create a scenario or project similar to this all-female team-up.

Back in late 2020, there were rumors that the all-female Avengers unit known as A-Force might get its own MCU film. A-Force was first debuted in Marvel Comics. But given how much time has elapsed since then, it’s doubtful that the project, if it ever existed in the first place, would still be in progress.

A-Force movies may succeed now that there are more female superheroes in the MCU, and Tatiana Maslany, who plays She-Hulk, has already expressed interest in taking the team‘s leadership. Chloe Bennett, who plays Quake on Agents of SHIELD, also expressed interest in joining the group.

The A-Force won’t likely find a spot in the Multiverse Saga’s tight schedule, but perhaps there will be additional chances for the group to come together in the future. Thunderbolts existence demonstrates that the MCU can accommodate crossover groups that aren’t full-on Avengers blockbusters.

When Earth’s Mightiest Heroes next unite in The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, Marvel Studios surely won’t be eager to reprise a similar idea given how divisive the all-female team-up in Endgame proved to be.
