Why Marvel Studios Should Delay Avengers 5

Many people were dismayed and deeply disappointed by the ongoing delays at Marvel Studios, especially when major projects like an Avengers movie were getting pushed back in time.

Avengers 5 The Kang Dynasty

Many believed it was probably too good to be true that the world would be getting two significant Avengers sequels back-to-back in the same year when Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige first revealed the thrilling Phase 5 and 6 slate with Avengers 5 and 6 planned to both debut in 2025.

Secret Wars, on the other hand, was quickly postponed until May 1, 2026. Now, reports suggest that further significant changes to Marvel’s planned schedule are taking place; Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Echo, for example, appear to have already been postponed by a year or more.

What will be pushed next? Could Avengers: Kang Dynasty’s scheduled release date of May 2, 2025—two years and four months from the time of this publication—be moved up? Marvel couldn’t possibly postpone its most eagerly awaited future project, especially in light of Secret War’s delay, could they?

But after giving it some thought, a postponement for the next crossover movie directed by Destin Daniel Cretton might not be as horrible as it seems. But what advantages would such a significant choice have?

Quality Prioritizes Quantity

mcu phase 4 critics

Phase 4 has left a bad taste in the history of Marvel Studios.

Although the fans have just received a tonne of fresh MCU content, that is also a huge drawback.

Why? Well, to put it mildly, the responses to the majority of recent ventures have been mixed. Almost every Disney+ title has radically varying degrees of quality throughout the course of its number of episodes.

According to recent reports, Marvel has taken note of the numerous concerns and is pausing to reassess how the business is operating. This comes after Blade lost its director, Armor Wars changed to a movie, and Echo had a significant delay.

Quality above quantity, as the phrase goes, should be the aim.

While it may appear like there would be fewer initiatives, in reality, everything that has already been revealed will just have more time to take off and mature.

The MCU would have even more breathing room if Avengers 5 (and probably Secret Wars) were to be postponed, allowing it to ensure that all of its many endeavours are having the desired effect. Additionally, it would provide the creatives working behind the scenes more time for creation, ensuring that the end product is the best it can be rather than maybe being hurried.

Unavoidably, these delays will leave empty space and create new release slots that need to be filled. Marvel Studios would be overjoyed by this since it would give them more time to create storylines that would improve the Multiverse Saga’s grand climax.

Additional Kang Variants

Kang Varients

The degree to which Jonathan Majors’ villain will participate in the Multiverse Saga is one of the main distinctions between Kang and Thanos. When it came to Thanos, he truly just rose to prominence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of Avengers: Infinity War.

The major adversary of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Kang, however, has already been in Loki’s Season 1 finale and is confirmed to appear elsewhere before The Kang Dynasty even comes.

If the fifth and sixth Avengers movies see a further delay, Marvel will be able to give Majors even more time to shine before his major crossover event.

In an ideal world, most, if not all, of the heroes that appear in The Kang Dynasty ought to have encountered one of his numerous Variants at some point. If the villain interacted with each hero differently, it would be great and truly unusual, yet it would also raise numerous competing expectations.

If Marvel Studios decides to make Rama-Tut (Kang dressed as an Egyptian pharaoh) the major antagonist of Moon Knight Season 2 (if such a thing occurs in the first place), it would be a fantastic example of how to use more appearances for Majors.

One further option is to incorporate Iron Lad, a younger Kang, into the eventual Young Avengers effort.

In the Vibranium power battles, maybe even the Thunderbolts might run against him at some time (or even the rumoured introduction of Adamantium).

Establishing and Executing Additional Set-Ups

With so many set-ups going on simultaneously with all of these new projects, Marvel Studios has really gotten ahead of itself. It seems unlikely that the MCU will be able to feed all of those narrative streams in a satisfying fashion, if at all, with Avengers 5 still two years away.

Ironically, only time will be able to help with this.

The Kang Dynasty may be directly tied into more initiatives with the additional time that a delay would provide, better preparing the audience for the major event than was previously feasible. Additionally, it would offer Marvel some room to begin tying together the many MCU subplots, which now feel a little disconnected (the mystical, supernatural, street-level, etc.).

Then there is Spider-Man, who, when viewers last saw him, had essentially made a fresh start, making him one of the most faithful representations of the wall-crawler to date. Nevertheless, aside from the supposition that Tom Holland will be engaged in Avengers 5 and 6, fans are unsure of when they will see him again as of right now.

The character must appear before such crossovers without a doubt. Spidey’s journey requires time to develop and define who he is in the wake of the horrific events of No Way Home.

While the existence of a Spider-Man 4 is hotly speculated and all but certain, it is difficult to see how it would fit into the MCU slate as it is right now. According to rumours, Sony wants to release the film in July 2024, which is not the best timing because it would fall between Thunderbolts and Deadpool 3.

Delays would solve those problems and provide Holland’s older and wiser Peter Parker with a stronger basis before Dynasty and Secret Wars. The famous wall-crawler is far from the lone figure whose narrative and evolution might benefit in the same way.

Investing Additional Time With New Heroes

Phase 4 feels hurried, as several fans have acknowledged. Marvel Studios frequently introduces new characters and launches several new stories. The amount of time spectators spend with many of them, though, doesn’t seem to be adequate.

The Fantastic Four are among the most significant figures in all of Marvel mythology, however after possessing the rights for several years, it still feels as like the group will be thrown into the mix just before Kang Dynasty.

Before Jonathan Majors’ villain grabs the MCU by its figurative neck, Marvel might think about giving them more time to grow inside the world and perhaps even give them the chance to appear in other works.

There are also newcomers like Wonder Man and Nova, who will be introduced right around the time The Kang Dynasty is scheduled to make its appearance, giving those characters very little opportunity to connect with other MCU characters before (theoretically) being dragged into rescuing the universe.

Captain Marvel, played by Brie Larson, suffered as a result of being dragged into the MCU in that way. Considering that she had only recently entered the fight, Captain Marvel not only fell short in the eyes of many fans and commentators, but she also never really had an organic or significant role to perform in Endgame.

Please form more teams.

Many are eager to point out how Marvel Studios is creating multiple times more material in a shorter period of time during the Multiverse Saga (2021 and beyond) compared to its Infinity Saga days in reaction to criticism that Secret Wars being released too soon (the 2010s).

The issue is that despite the large number of projects, they are all often about distinct heroes. This indicates that even though the universe may be receiving a number of projects, most characters won’t interact with any other prominent MCU figures until The Kang Dynasty.

Before the Kang Dynasty, the Avengers may not even exist in any form.

Before the conclusion of the present tale, several projects that bring together groups of people and begin developing dynamics should be launched in order to assist address this. A prime example is The Marvels, which brought Monica, Carol, and Kamala together and laid the groundwork for their relationship.

While Thunderbolts is obviously forming their own squad, it appears that Captain America: New World Order is assembling a type of Avengers team. The ideal setting for including as many characters as possible to establish the framework may be major events like Armor Wars or the rumoured World War Hulk movie. This would leave The Kang Dynasty with far less to worry about during its own runtime.

The Young Avengers would be another another wonderful illustration. It’s now difficult to imagine the project arriving before Secret Wars considering how full the MCU docket is. If viewers could get to know them and engage in them before Kang Dynasty, their involvement would significantly broaden the span of that time period and make their formation signify much more.

The greater the better when it comes to closing up an MCU saga.

Postponing The Kang Dynasty

Even though a change in release dates may initially seem upsetting, it could really be for the best. The MCU can’t come apart just yet since there is still a tonne of material left to cover.

Yes, it may entail an even longer wait for the following Avengers movie. However, with time given to the numerous tales leading up to the crossover, viewers will almost surely be pleased when the conclusion is that more sweeter.

However, the Multiverse Saga’s significant delay is not without drawbacks. The most significant of those is the growing anticipation for the X-entry Men’s into the MCU.

Even if Kamala Khan and Namor are technically mutants, everyone is still waiting for the X-Men to make their big-screen debut. Any delays for the Multiverse Saga make the wait much longer because it presently appears it won’t happen until Phase 7.

Fans will just have to have faith in Marvel Studios to make this Multiverse Saga as amazing as, if not better than the original first three phases because they have already accomplished near-impossible achievements.

Later this year, on February 17, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will be released in theatres.
