Darren Cross, Ant-Man 3, Loki

The surprise second antagonist for Ant-Man 3 was hinted to in Loki Season 1.

Since the Quantum Realm is the smallest place possible, as Marvel Studios has already described, it makes logical that Stoll’s Ant-Man persona would eventually wind himself there if he had been continuously reduced down.

The conclusion that his helmet may have been flung from his body and ended up in a location like the Void in Loki as he shrank and became smaller is a reasonable one.

It doesn’t explain why he transforms into the hideous and malformed MODOK, but it may provide some insight into how the monster wound himself in Quantumania.

When Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania premieres in cinemas on February 17, maybe everything will become obvious.

Followers will now be thrilled to see Stoll return and MODOK make his MCU debut; but, for those keen-eyed Marvel Studios fans, his return should not come as much of a surprise.

The long wait for Corey Stoll’s return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe was so great that Loki inserted a minor Easter egg for him.

The Ant-Man villain Yellowjacket’s helmet first appears in Loki Season 1 Episode 5 in the enigmatic extradimensional realm known as the Void.

The Yellowjacket costume accessory is firmly rooted in the hills of the Void and appears to be much larger than it actually is.

It is clear at a closer glance that this is the Yellowjacket helmet, which has glowing yellow eyes and a silver mouth and chin piece reminiscent of a gas mask.

Stoll was mentioned as returning for Quantumania when the Multiversal Disney+ series was scheduled to premiere in June 2021, with some rumours pointing to this giant-sized Loki Easter Egg. Therefore, it seems sense to think that Marvel Studios may have used this to create the groundwork for the actor’s MCU comeback as MODOK.

The origin of Yellowjacket in Loki: How?

This does not fully explain how Darren Cross changed from being Ant-last Man’s villain to being MODOK in Quantumania, or even whether this is the same figure from the MCU movie (something there is already precedent for in Ant-Man 3). However, there is enough connective tissue there for one to begin developing some possibilities.

A possible explanation for how Stoll’s MCU antagonist ended up where he is has to do with his final moments in Ant-Man. The MCU villain is drastically reduced as Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, kills Stoll’s Yellowjacket, presumably forever.
