When would a potential of Moon Knight Season 2 starring Oscar Isaac fit into the grand scheme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe?
One of the Marvel Studios streaming shows that has been received the best is the Disney+ series. Even its first season concluded on a major cliffhanger that calls for more investigation. There are no hints as to when viewers will have another chance to see Isaac’s hero, though.
Although there have been many rumours about a second season, the star acknowledged that “[they] don’t know” whether there will be more episodes.
When Will Moon Knight Season 2 Arrive?
Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed the release date for Moon Knight Season 2, hence no release date has been established. However, a release window can be condensed by taking a look at the MCU’s plans for the upcoming years in addition to rumours and reports.
Could Moon Knight Make a Comeback Next Year?
By far the least likely possibility for Moon Knight Season 2 is a release at any time in 2024. Marvel Studios would be unable to pull it off and fit it into the slate, even if production started right away.
One is that Marvel Studios has still not officially announced a second season. Second, if it expects to air on Disney+ in early 2024, filming would need to be right around the corner as it doesn’t seem to have begun yet.
Not to mention, the MCU Disney+ release schedule for 2019 is already completely booked. In that time frame, it is anticipated that Ironheart, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and the 18-episode Daredevil: Born Again will all premiere, filling more than half the year with weekly releases.
That doesn’t even include Echo, which might be added if the project doesn’t launch by the end of 2023 – although the most recent update shows encouraging signs in that regard.
Option 1 for publication: Moon Knight concludes in 2024
The later part of 2024 would probably be the earliest logistically feasible release date for Moon Knight Season 2. However, that would require production to start right away, which there isn’t any proof of right now.
Along with the previously revealed 2024 schedule, Marvel Studios is also bringing Wonder Man to Disney+. Given that production on Wonder Man has already started, this show appears to be coming out much sooner than Moon Knight Season 2.
Therefore, even if a sequel to Moon Knight were to start production right away, there simply wouldn’t be room on the schedule until at least 2025.
Release Alternative 2: Moon Knight Returns Before Avengers 5
The inclusion of the Kang Variant Rama-Tut in a prospective second season is one of the most persistent rumours. Being an Egyptian Pharaoh, the character is briefly seen in the Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania post-credits scene, making a connection to Marc Spector’s tale simple.
Kang’s involvement in the events would be a fantastic method to increase interest in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. After Season 1 was one of the more stand-alone episodes of the franchise, it might be a smooth way to integrate Moon Knight into the larger MCU storyline.
In light of this, a second season of Moon Knight would make sense from a narrative perspective before Avengers 5 in early 2025. From a practical standpoint, this would also be much more likely, giving the project two years to develop.
Additionally, the Disney+ slate becomes significantly less full when 2025 and Phase 6 arrive because, despite reports of other projects in development, Marvel Studios has only made the majority of its slate official up until the end of Phase 4.
Marvel Studios allegedly wants to release Season 2 before The Kang Dynasty, which is presently scheduled to premiere on May 2, 2025, though many anticipate that date to be delayed.
Release Option 3: Season 2 of Moon Knight bridges the gap between Avengers vs.
What The Kang Dynasty will mean for the MCU is not yet known. Having said that, it’s impossible to predict how the Marvel universe will change between the fifth and sixth installments of the Avengers.
Battleworld, which is essentially a patchwork existence made up of different parallel realities, will be explored in the projects that come in between the blockbusters, according to many fans’ expectations and certain rumours that have surfaced. The idea serves as a major inspiration for the comic book adaptation of the narrative from 2015, which is still a fan favourite.
One of such planets might have an Egyptian motif, with Rama-Tut ruling its inhabitants and the Moon Knight serving as a powerful defender.
Option 4: Delay the start of Moon Knight Season 2 until Phase 7
Waiting until Phase 7 begins would be the least likely course of action after The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars are released.
First of all, it would be weird to release Season 2 after the enemy has apparently been defeated, especially given the widespread rumours about Kang’s involvement.
Many believe that the programme needs another season before Moon Knight is included in those significant crossover events. If a continuation is not made until after, that development wouldn’t have the chance to occur.
Second Season MCU Disney+ Trend?
Rama-Tut may be a logical continuation of Moon Knight’s journey after the Kang Variant was hinted at in Season 1, and it presents a seamless approach to incorporate Marc Spector into the MCU’s overall plot.
Currently, the best time for Marvel to release a second season would probably be during Phase 6. The MCU ought to be beginning to deal with the emergence of mutants by the time Phase 7 arrives.
According to the current MCU schedule, Season 2 should air between 2025 and 2026, possibly earlier if rumours about it debuting before The Kang Dynasty are true. However, as the release schedule for the remaining books in the Multiverse Saga changes, that window might easily change and grow.
Hopefully Marvel will reveal the existence of Season 2 as soon as possible. As of right now, Loki is the only live-action Disney+ series from the Marvel Cinematic Universe to receive a second season.
Fans of Ms. Marvel are also eagerly anticipating the following installment, which is scheduled to arrive in 2023’s The Marvels. Iman Villani’s shenanigans in New Jersey currently don’t even have a projected release date.
On Disney+, you can watch the first season of Moon Knight.
