According to reports, a future Disney+ series will build the foundation for the Young Avengers’ entry into the Marvel Studios.
The Multiverse Saga hopes to change the fact that the MCU has only ever had one mainstay superhero squad, the Avengers. With the introduction of numerous enduring team members, Phase 4 has already set the stage for the Young Avengers to join the fray in the not-too-distant future.
Eli Bradley, the Maximoff Twins, Kate Bishop, Ms. Marvel, America Chavez, Ironheart, Skaar, Prince T’Challa II, and the characters from Thor 4’s Love and Ms. Marvel have all made appearances in the most recent Phase 4 films and Disney+ shows. But despite the seeds being sown right in front of the fans, no Young Avengers project has been added to the Phases 5 or 6 schedule, leading many to wonder what Marvel Studios really has in store for the group. Well, a recent rumour could have just given away the outcome.
Future Disney+ Series Will Set Up the MCU’s Young Avengers
The Vision Quest Disney+ series will reportedly build up the Young Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to the “reliable sources” of the Marvel Studios Spoilers forum.
The daughter of Vision, Viv, who might join the Young Avengers, is also expected to be introduced in the Paul Bettany–led WandaVision spinoff.
Insider In the latter half of October 2022, Jeff Sneider announced on the Hot Mic Podcast that a Disney+ series starring Vision was in production. According to him, the film will be called Vision Quest, and Marvel Studios plans to launch a writers’ room the next week. Deadline also said that Jac Schaeffer of WandaVision will be in charge of the project’s development.
How Vision Quest Could Be Important for Phase 6 of the MCU
In the comics, Vision had a close relationship with the Young Avengers since he helped to form and mentor them when they were a stand-in for the Avengers who had dissolved. Even more, the synthezoid joined the squad as Vision II, a resurrected adolescent hero made by fusing the original Vision with the information contained in Kang Variant Iron Lad’s armour.
The Avengers were shattered and the world was in ruins until Nathaniel Richards, a young Nathaniel Richards, travelled through time to the present to ask for their assistance. However, when reviewing their records, he discovered Vision’s backup strategy for producing additional heroes in the event that the team failed.
As a result, he decided to go even deeper in the past and found the Young Avengers, which he joined using the pseudonym Iron Lad. Unfortunately, Nathaniel was forced to quit the squad after being discovered by Kang for his own timeline. He did, however, leave his armour behind, which allowed Vision’s systems to take control and produce Vision II.
Since significant portions of the original Vision Quest narrative were already included into WandaVision, it’s possible that the “quest” alluding to in the Disney+ title relates to bringing together the Young Avengers. It may even be an important component of the Phase 6 jigsaw if this were to adopt some of the previously suggested comic aspects.
The original Vision’s fail-safe mechanism may activate following the Avengers’ potential defeat in The Kang Dynasty, putting White Vision on a quest to unite the MCU’s next heroes. To manage the team on his behalf, he may even invent his own daughter, Viv.
A release during Phase 6 in 2025 or 2026 is totally feasible given that Marvel Studios only recently created a writers’ room for Vision Quest. After helping the Avengers in Secret Wars, the group could go on to star in or direct their own ensemble film or television series in Phase 7 and the MCU’s upcoming storyline.
No release date has been announced by Vision Quest.
