Producer of Loki Season 2 Teases Tom Hiddleston’s Next Adventure

Loki Season 2 will feature a “unexpected” adventure for Tom Hiddleston‘s God of Mischief, according to a teaser from Marvel Studios.

Loki Season 2’s post-credits scene from Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania gave viewers a preview of what to look forward to and set up a potential confrontation with Marvel’s trickster as well as a startling Kang Variant. But, the future season’s plot is being kept a secret.

Despite this, a Disney+ official trailer showed that Loki works alongside Mobius, played by Owen Wilson, as a full-fledged Temporal Variance Authority (TVA) agent. This follows the cliffhanger Season 1 finale where the individual found himself in a different organisation.

Nobody knows how the Season 1 finale will impact Loki’s path in Season 2, but a recent statement from a show producer may have provided some insight.

Season 2 of Loki’s Hero’s Journey is hinted about by Marvel.

 Loki Season 2

Producer of Loki and Marvel Studios’ President of Production and Development Stephen Broussard spoke as a guest on the D23: Inside Disney podcast about the anticipation for Tom Hiddleston’s role in Season 2.

At initially, Broussard called Season 2 a “very exciting” undertaking and said it would be enjoyable to see Loki‘s continuous voyage in the upcoming episodes:

“Loki Season 2. I don’t wanna say too much. It’s very exciting. I think that team has done an amazing job. I think the most exciting thing to tease is, going back to our conversation earlier about characters, is just kind of watching Tom [Hiddleston] and watching Loki’s journey. Like a continuing journey.”

The God of Mischief’s first season was all about “discovering that he could be more,” the Marvel producer noted, while also helping him to establish his own “new, heroic arc”:

“The journey of Season 1 was about breaking down who he thought he was. Episode 1 ends with Mobius basically calling him everything, you know? And at the end of Episode 1, he’s kind of this broken man. He’s been shown how his story ends. He’s been shown that his glorious purpose was not what he thought, and Mobius essentially says, ‘Alright, are you ready to get to work?’ And that season begins in earnest with the new, heroic arc for Loki, as he kind of moves forward and him finding his place. He was always a little bit of this outsider in Asgard in the royal palace there and I think Season 1 was about discovering that he could be more.”

After that, Broussard promised that Loki’s heroic journey will continue in Season 2 in “unexpected ways,” hinting that viewers would be “excited to see” how Hiddleston would develop his character in the upcoming episodes:

“And I think Season 2 will continue that in unexpected ways. So I’m excited for people to go on that journey with Loki in the hands of Tom, who is one of the most amazing actors that I’ve ever had the good fortune of working with. It’s amazing to watch him work, watch his range. I think audiences will be excited to see what else he can do with this character.”

Loki Season 2 will focus on the  “battle for the soul of the TVA:” Hiddleston said in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly following the Marvel Studios appearance at the D23 Fan Expo.

“Season 2’s kind of a challenge of a question asked of the TVA itself, a battle for the soul of the TVA.”

Will Season 2 Hint at Loki’s Ascension to the Avenger?

Given that Tom Hiddleston’s titular God of Mischief was made aware of how it all ends owing to He Who Remains’ ranting at the finale of Loki Season 1, the show’s conclusion solidified the concept that he is essential in the looming Multiversal war.

According to Stephen Broussard’s most recent remarks, Loki’s development will continue in Season 2 as he strives to shed his anti-hero label and become a true hero. By doing so, they may be able to work with the Avengers from Earth-616 in the future.

Loki’s expertise in the Kang division makes it logical for him to fight alongside Earth’s Mightiest Heroes in one or even both of the Avengers films. Moreover, his entrance might serve as the catalyst for the events of the crossover film by alerting the Avengers to the existence of the Council of Kangs.

Furthermore, Loki’s continued heroic mission in Season 2 might come down to him looking for Sylvie, played by Sophia Di Martino.

The kiss between Loki and Sylvie was one of Season 1’s unexpected moments, and it’s safe to assume that Season 2 will handle this key moment in some way. Finding Sylvie might perhaps be Loki’s primary driving force and the foundation of his heroic journey.

According to reports, Disney+ will premiere Loki Season 2 this summer.
