A new update on the Fantastic Four cast has surfaced online, and it provides some unexpected news for the much awaited MCU movie.
The relaunch of Marvel’s First Family seems to have had the most persistent casting rumours of any recent MCU projects.
The majority of them rode on Reed Richards. In spite of the fact that John Krasinski played the role in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, it doesn’t appear that Marvel Studios will use him as Mr. Fantastic from Earth-616.
Several names have surfaced in connection with the part over the past few months, including Adam Driver, Penn Badgley, and Diego Luna.
Now that casting appears to be beginning, Marvel is initially concentrating on a surprising gang member.
Coming Soon: Fantastic Four Casting
Justin Kroll of Deadline disclosed an intriguing new casting development in a tweet.
Kroll claims that Marvel Studios will start preparing for the Fantastic Four casting process this month. While he did not provide any specific names, he did indicate that it is thought that Sue Storm will be cast first, followed by the rest of the squad.
Given that Reed Richards typically serves as the team’s spokesperson and de facto leader, this comes as a bit of a surprise.
Giving life to the Fantastic Four
It’s not unexpected that Sue Storm was initially cast because Reed Richards normally plays the main role. Of of everyone, Reed has attracted the most casting rumours.
Sue is Johnny Storm’s sister, so both performers should share some physical characteristics, so it seems sense that Marvel Studios would start with Sue. This might imply that Mr. Fantastic is cast before even the Human Torch.
Johnny hasn’t been the subject of many speculations, but Austin Butler recently ran for the part. With his work with Elvis, he might actually have a chance.
About Invisible Woman, Jodie Comer was mentioned as a potential candidate back in 2022. However, many of the earlier rumours are probably false because the casting process is only now getting underway.
Mila Kunis was recently photographed in LA with Fantastic Four director Matt Shakman, which fuelled rumours that she would be up for the part.
Fans should become familiar with the complete cast as soon as possible. San Diego Comic-Con 2023 seems like the earliest possible date.
The Fantastic Four movie is scheduled to premiere on February 14, 2025.
