Actor Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, has made comments about the variations between the Netflix series and the MCU‘s Daredevil: Born Again.
The subject itself is contentious. In addition to Marvel Studios’ ambiguity regarding Born Again’s relationship to the original series, viewers worry that the show’s intensity and level of brutality will be toned down for Disney+.
Now that filming is ready to begin, Daredevil’s Vincent D’Onofrio has acknowledged that there are certain differences while still expressing his optimism in the transformation.
Actor for the ‘Very Different’ Daredevil Series, Kingpin
Actor Vincent D’Onofrio, who plays Kingpin, commented on Twitter to a fan who expressed both his hopes and worries about Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, acknowledging that the MCU series will be “quite different from the Netflix show” while still being “very cool:”
“It’s going to be very very cool. Very different than the Netflix show which was as we know was amazing. Yet this is brand new and really smart. We are going to surprise everyone with it. And yes it’s going to be really cool.”
Charlie Cox, star of Daredevil, has also shared his thoughts on some of the differences between the two programmes.
According to Cox in an interview with NME, the Disney+ programme “will be gloomy,” but “it [won’t be] as gory.”
“My opinion is this character works best when he’s geared towards a slightly more mature audience. My instinct is that on Disney+ it will be dark but it probably won’t be as gory.”
The actor responded to objections from fans by asking them why Born Again can’t “appeal to a bit younger audience” without losing “everything we’ve learnt about what works.”
“I would say to those people, we’ve done that. Let’s take the things that really worked, but can we broaden? Can we appeal to a slightly younger audience without losing what we’ve learned about what works?”
Additionally, Charlie Cox has remarked that some modifications may be advantageous, such as the potential for “a significant influence of judicial stuff.”
“I think because of the number of episodes they’ve committed to, there’ll be a heavy influence of courtroom stuff—Matt Murdock, the lawyer in the new show. So I’m heavily focused on researching that area of this character and his life. It was one of the areas we didn’t do a huge amount of exploration around before. Even my accent is probably really rusty.”

For a while now, D’Onofrio has been praising Daredevil: Born Again.
He has previously assured viewers that they “have no idea” what is in store for them, in addition to saying that the MCU series is “very brilliant” and one that “will surprise everyone.”
While various remarks from the cast and creative team of Marvel Studios have hinted to a lighter tone for Born Again, the absence of violence doesn’t imply a lack of impact or a lack of stakes. Gore does not indicate superior storyline or a better production, however.
In actuality, what viewers don’t notice is frequently more potent and significant than what they see.
Regardless matter how D’Onofrio’s statement may be interpreted by viewers, it is a confirmation that Netflix’s Daredevil is distinct from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and that there will be a new story to tell.
The Daredevil fanbase will hopefully discover more about what Marvel Studios has in store for Kingpin and Matt Murdock, as well as how the two programmes differ, because cameras are set to start rolling at any moment.
Disney+ will premiere Daredevil: Born Again in the spring of 2024.
