The number of X-Men characters that Deadpool 3 will bring back for the next MCU threequel is currently up to five.
Being the first time in his cinematic career that Deadpool is under the Marvel Studios umbrella, the character’s return to the big screen is exhilarating.
With all the hallmarks of a Deadpool movie returning, the movie is the first R-rated entry into Marvel’s PG-13 universe, however it now has the opportunity to make fun of the biggest super-powered universe in Hollywood.
In Deadpool 3, more X-Men heroes will make their return.
Deadline has just reported that two additional well-known characters from Fox’s X-Men/Deadpool series will appear in Deadpool 3. This puts the total number of returning X-Men characters for the upcoming blockbuster to five.
Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand)
Deadline reported that Brianna Hildebrand had reached an agreement to return to the big screen in Deadpool 3 with her Negasonic Teenage Warhead after appearing in both of the previous Deadpool flicks.
The troubled teen mutant was last seen in Deadpool 2 working with her recently introduced girlfriend Yukio to fix Cable’s time machine, which will be crucial to Deadpool 3.
Yukio (Shioli Kutsuna)
The second name mentioned in the most current Deadline reporting was that of Yukio, who is portrayed by Shioli Kutsuna.
When she entered the fray as Negasonic Teenage Warhead’s girlfriend in Deadpool 2, the effervescent mutant ninja won the hearts of the audience. Although Yukio will return for Deadpool 3, it is unknown if she is still dating her X-Men teammate.
Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds)
Naturally, Deadpool 3 will feature Ryan Reynolds‘ titular merc with a mouth once again. However, this time he will get to enjoy himself a little bit more because the threequel is the character’s first appearance inside the MCU’s confines.
Wade Wilson will have a little “fish-out-of-water“ syndrome in Deadpool 3 as he travels the Multiverse with Hugh Jackman’s austere Wolverine after easily taking down villains in the Fox reality.
Wolverine (Hugh Jackman)
Hugh Jackman will reprise his role as Wolverine in Deadpool 3 after making an appearance in Logan, which many fans expected to be his final outing on the X-Men stage.
Jackman has stated that he first believed “that Logan was going to be [his] last [movie],” but after viewing the first Deadpool, he realised that he “really [wanted to] do” return as his iconic mutant.
Colossus (Stefan Kapicic)
The solid-as-rock Colossus (played by Stefan Kapicic) is another well-known character that has lately been confirmed to make an appearance in the upcoming threequel.
Kapicic has appeared in Deadpool and Deadpool 2, where he portrays a comical take on the legendary X-Men hero and acts as Deadpool’s main point of contact with the adored group of Marvel mutants.
Who is Not Present in Deadpool 3?
It will be wonderful for Deadpool franchise fans to see another pair of well-known heroes join the MCU alongside the Merc with a Mouth, but there are still a few names that are still up in the air about the upcoming threequel.
The best illustration of this is Josh Brolin’s Cable, a pivotal figure in Deadpool 2. Given that Deadpool 3 is said to revolve around Deadpool and his friends using “Cable’s time travel machine to save Wolverine before his death,” one would anticipate Brolin’s X-Men character to make an appearance.
Plus, since Brolin previously portrayed Marvel villain Thanos in the MCU, having him repeat his role would present a plethora of comedy possibilities.
The X-Force (as seen in Deadpool 2) members are another group of characters who have been hinted at but not yet confirmed for the super-powered movie. In a recent tweet, Ryan Reynolds proclaimed, “X-Force will live forever!” beside a picture of his Marvel anti-hero, Domino (Zazie Beetz), and Bedlam (Terry Crews).
So, if some of those X-Force team members are confirmed to appear in Deadpool 3 again, do not be shocked.
The release date for Deadpool 3 is November 8, 2024.
