MCU: 5 Future Films Chris Evans’ Captain America Could Reappear In

Where might Chris Evans play Steve Rogers/Captain America make an appearance in the future Multiverse Saga films of the MCU?

Captain America

Evans last appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, when he made a very emotional goodbye from the series by travelling back in time to live a life with Peggy Carter before handing over the mantle and shield to Anthony Mackie‘s Sam Wilson. But, since the actor was one of the cornerstones who helped create the MCU from the ground up, speculation regarding his potential return to the part is constant.

Although having passed his 100th birthday canonically, Mackie revealed in a recent interview with Jimmy Kimmel that Evans’ former Captain America is still alive in the Marvel Cinematic Universe:

Kimmel: “Old Cap is ok, then? Old Cap is alive?”

Mackie: “Yeah! I think so! I didn’t see him die! I don’t know, I saw Chris two weeks ago, and he looked pretty good.”

Also, given that the MCU is a part of the Multiverse Saga, prospective Steve Rogers Variants are probably just waiting for the proper moment in the narrative to appear and aid the Avengers once more.

All things considered, the following five films are listed in the order of greatest likelihood to lowest likelihood of containing Chris Evans as Steve Rogers/Captain America.

Disclaimer: This article is not intended to imply that Chris Evans will replace Anthony Mackie as Captain America, but rather to speculatively suggest which movies it is conceivable for Evans’ Steve Rogers to appear in.

1.) Captain America: New World Order is the first.

Leader, Sam Wilson, Red Hulk

After assuming the role of Captain America in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie will finally receive his own Marvel Cinematic Universe solo film with Captain America: New World Order. A Chris Evans appearance for this sequel may be rather appropriate given that it is both his first major motion picture as the Star-Spangled Avenger and his first film since Avengers: Endgame.

Evans would probably appear briefly in Captain America 4 to help Steve Rogers reunite with Sam Wilson for advice or confidence, especially with vengeful foes like the Leader and Thunderbolt Ross in his way. Additionally, speculations hinted that Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, would make a comeback, which might make it possible for the three heroes to reunite.

The easiest movie for Evans to return for would be Captain America 4, where the veteran Steve Rogers would be able to give advice to the new Avengers leader.

2.) Secret Wars: Avengers

Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans

According to speculations, the Avengers: Secret Wars sequel will feature heroes and antagonists from every part of the Multiverse in an effort by Marvel Studios to make it the biggest comic book movie event in history. Yet although while Chris Evans’ return as Captain America in this story will not be the main emphasis for viewers, it could nevertheless have a significant effect.

The Secret Wars narrative from Marvel Comics, in which two parallel universes collide before being completely destroyed, will almost probably be adapted for the sixth Avengers film. Battleworld, which includes several Variants of innumerable characters from throughout the Multiverse, also recently debuted, providing Evans with the ideal opportunity to make a comeback.

Instead of the more experienced Captain America from Earth-616, this film would presumably feature Evans’ Captain America from an alternate universe, giving him one last chance to participate in the action. There is nothing preventing him from reprising his part as the Human Torch from his Fantastic Four movies, either, so it doesn’t even factor that into the equation.

3.) The Kang Dynasty in Avengers

Scarlet Witch, Falcon, Iron Man, Bucky Barnes, Captain America

In Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror, who rules over all of time and space by using a variety of his Variants throughout the Multiverse, is about to unleash havoc on the Avengers. Sam Wilson’s Captain America will undoubtedly return in this, as has been hinted at in rumours, however there may be a tiny window for Steve Rogers to make an appearance as well.

Similar to what was proposed for Captain America 4, this would probably be a lower role for Evans, with Steve Rogers temporarily serving as Sam Wilson and the Avengers’ leader. There’s also a remote possibility that a Multiversal Steve Rogers would appear from a different reality, but Avengers 6 seems more likely to see that happen than Avengers 5.

Evans would then have credits in each of the last five Avengers films, making him one of only a select few MCU actors to be able to say so, dependent on actors like Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) (Thor). And while though the new generation of Avengers will undoubtedly receive greater attention in this film, Steve Rogers’ entrance would still have a significant impact on the narrative.

4) Deadpool 3

Avengers, Deadpool

In 2024, Deadpool 3 will fundamentally alter the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), as it will be the first Marvel Studios film in which the Multiverse actually “cracks open” and has an effect that can be felt throughout the whole franchise. And while Chris Evans might not be the first name that comes to mind for fans when they consider who could make a cameo in this threequel, there is one important rumour that could ultimately pull the MCU veteran into the action for a brief scene alongside Wade Wilson and Wolverine.

According to rumours, Deadpool 3 will explore additional Marvel properties that were once housed under the 20th Century Fox brand. One of those properties is Chris Evans’ Fantastic Four squad. If this story is accurate, Evans would reunite with Michael Chiklis (The Thing), Jessica Alba (Sue Storm), and Ioan Gruffudd (Mr. Fantastic) and get to work with Deadpool, who will undoubtedly be one of the MCU’s funniest characters.

Should Wade decide to look for someone who is regarded as one of the greatest heroes in this universe, Evans might also very well show up as a Multiversal Cap Variant from another universe or the Earth-616 Cap. A cameo from Captain America in the upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe film Deadpool might be a game-changer for the Merc with a Mouth, especially after Chris Evans pulled off a similar prank in Ryan Reynolds’ Free Man in 2021.

5.)Thunderbolts

Red Guardian, John Walker, Yelena Belva

Phase 5‘s major team-up movie, Thunderbolts, which may also serve as the phase’s final film, will assemble a distinctive group of heroes and forhttps://atozfutureworld.com/avengers-5-reveals-how-mcu-phase-5mer criminals. And although though Chris Evans’ comeback in this film is undoubtedly the least likely, James Buchanan Barnes, a character, might pave the way for it.

According to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige, Bucky will take over the role of “de facto leader” for the Thunderbolts, replacing Steve Rogers with the Avengers in that role. Given their continued friendship and the fact that Bucky may not currently be aware of Steve’s whereabouts, the Winter Soldier may turn to Steve Rogers for leadership advice in his new capacity as Captain America.

The Multiverse would very surely not be a feature in the Thunderbolts plot, and this role would most likely be just a cameo of some kind, almost certainly starring old Cap. Also, given that this is one of Phase 5‘s final films, if not its final one overall, the presence of Steve Rogers may add to the movie’s sense of importance as a grand finale to a fresh batch of thrilling adventures.
